Re-homing timing question......
Our boy Diesel is now 31 weeks and a right lump in all honesty, but dont worry he is not going anywhere
now heres the reason for my question, my partner and I have always said we will re-home a female that is a couple of years older than Diesel, as a companion and also to complete our family. is it better to start the procedure now or wait till he is past one year?
I have seen a few that take my fancy but they all seem to be 150+ miles away. hopefully there may ba a system set up to bring them closer??
I would ideally like to re-home withing the east sussex region and color preferences are solid red or blue, or blue/white and red/white.
either way when the time comes and the right girl is found for Diesel and us, our little girl will be loved more than life itself

The list of rescue centres is in the link below, just scroll down for the UK ones there maybe something in your area:
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t10833-rescue-centres-list
Ideally a year would be a good gap inbetween dogs ages however many get on well outside this bracket. Have a word with the staff at the rescue centre, they will be able to advize and will probably suggest that you take your boy along for some introductions with possible candidates.
Good luck, we will of course need photographic evidence of any new arrival

Get yourself to the rescues walk some with Diesel and let the centres know what you are looking for, ultimately it will be Diesel that will select who can become part of your family but always good for them to consider you first when they have new additions. You could also consider fostering in the first instance to see how a new face in the home will effect Diesel

Fostering maybe a option in the future when we get old , but as we are both young and still learning I'd be slightly inclined to hold back with fostering.
just been looking through a few sites at what's available and some really nice girls out there fingers crossed we tick all the right boxes

If you are looking for an older girl and feel you are ready then no reason not to start looking now , if you change your mind though and decide to go for a pup I would let him get another year or more under his belt first for the best chance at a balanced relationship

Re: Re-homing timing question......
the idea of rescue is great , look for a nice quiet but confident girl and you have plenty of opportunities to take Diesel along with you to meet her. As long as Diesel is comin along well with no issues then no reason at all but if he has problems then get them trained out of him before taking no 2

Aww how lovely, I'm sure you'll find the right girl for your family that you can give a forever home to, I'm sure her an diesel will love each other.
