Treats..
Hiya - I just wondered if anyone knew of really yummy treats I could use for Axl's training. He sometimes turns his nose up at the ones I use (usually gravy bones) or sometimes its just not enough to get him to come back when I want him to. I want to work on recall with him so need something he's going to want to come back for. Any ideas? what do you guys use?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Treats..
We often use this stuff as a special treat for Rocky, it's pure venison no added anything to it. Just cut it up into smaller pieces than it is in the bag.

If you cannot get hold of this try some very small pieces of cheese, if your dog can eat cheese. A value treat usually works wonders.

Re: Treats..
Thanks all I think I may try cheese as sometimes I put a little bit on his dinner if he's getting bored of it and he loves it. I read just now that I can use the cheese string thingys so that's an option. I'm also going to get him some Matheson sausage as well and see which he likes the most. Cat biscuits seem like a good idea to so maybe i'll just vary it each time so he doesn't get bored

Re: Treats..
Value chicken roll slices are mostly water anyway or Ledger works best for tesco garlic sausage slices these are great for agility as he doesn't have to chew and can be torn into as big pieces as you want
I found the liver to be a bit rich to have regularly but he does have some every now and then

Re: Treats..
I found bacon lardons cooked up crispy keep Katy's attention, but most things work with her (piggy)

I use dried liver and lamb pieces, dehydrated fish and kangaroo chunks as well as cheese, apple and banana bits .. a little cooked chicken goes a long way as far as Chiquito is concerned as well

You can try Liver Cake , it's easy and cheap to make ( even I can do it ) and considered a very popular high value training treat by those in the know

Re: Treats..
Thanks all, I think I'm gonna attempt to make liver cake as soon as I get 5 mins to myself, I did try cheese at the weekend and he came back every time so at least I have that to fall back on but the liver cake will probably get his attention even if we're in a room full of people lol..

Re: Treats..
I use tiny pieces of meat or cheese for training, hot dog sausages go down well, ham, chicken, spam worked well

Re: Treats..
Coachies are quite tasty to dogs! Or bits or cut-up sausage, small pieces of cheese or chicken.
