molly gets over exited when passing people and dogs
hi.when i take molly out for her walk its becoming a dread, she does not pull as much now but when people and dogs come towards her or from behind she get so exited and tries to jump up on her back legs, she has even pulled me off my feet,i am worried she will jump up on a child and hurt them, its as if all of a sudden she does not listed.we got her from someone when she was 5 months old,i dont think she ever left the garden and she slept in a cage but not sure if she was left in it during the day when not out side in the garden,i want to enjoy walking with her but i cant wait to get back in the house.

I do understand Caroline. Molly is still a puppy and Staffies are sooooo excitable.
Kuchar was just the same at 10 months old - 9 months later he has calmed down a bit, but still generally wants to greet every human and dog he comes across with jumps and kisses and like Molly gets struck deaf. Like you I am particularly concerned about children, so keep him on a short lead when he meets them and speak reassuringly to the child and calmly but firmly to Kuchar.
I don't think there is any quick fix but you are not alone! I enjoy my walks with Kuchar, but keep him on an extendable lead.

I would concentrate on getting her to focus on you while walking on the lead, heel walking where she's waiting for your next command not paying attention to other people. It will take time and patience but you'll get there

Re: molly gets over exited when passing people and dogs
I understand Caroline .. they really have some force when they lunge toward something/someone, and it is worse when it is all of a sudden!
When we are walking I use a 'watch' command to keep Chiquitos' attention as people/dogs are going past - combined with a 'leave' command if he does give them his attention. High value treats were the key in the start for him .. surprising how much attention their favorite food/toy can get even when there are other distractions around!
I will say that it has taken lots of practice and patience to get to a point where it works, however it is well worth it .... keep at it
