Why do people Sterotype Dogs?
I am Currently thinking of moving from Adelaide SA to Cairns in Queensland, I am having so much trouble trying to get Body Corporate Approval for my 10 month old Staffie Bella. When I apply to realestate agents over properties for sale im told dogs need approval by Body Corps. Everything is fine until they ask what Breed the dog is and I get back NO PETS allowed. I have recently been on holidays and Bella was left in my home loose for 6 hours a day after baby sitters left. She has never destroyed property, attacked another dog or cat and absolutely love kids and people. So sick of people judging this breed makes my blood boil.

Re: Why do people Sterotype Dogs?
What really got me mad the other day was a BULL MASTIFF X attacked a dog and sadly killed it but also injured the woman walking it. First thing i hear on the Radio is Ban them and was it a Staffy??
In defence of Staffies one Radio Announcer Did state that Staffies are the most gentle loving loyal dogs if bought up correctly AMEN!!!

Re: Why do people Sterotype Dogs?
You always get the few that seem to ruin it for everyone! Suppose it's the typical media hype of the bull-type breeds, staffs included, that are used to fight, or attack/destroy property, people and animals alike.
My boy is only 6 weeks old, and when people ask if he's a staff, it's ridiculous how many looks and how many people will do anything to avoid him. It's a shame people stereotype before they even know or understand the breed. Even then, why should a dog be stereotyped by a breed rather than an individual?
Society sucks
Must admit, my dad was also the same.. as soon as I brought my boy home, and he asked what breed, he did anything to avoid him and said they're nothing but a viscious breed. Then, as soon as I wasn't around he was the first to go in and mess about with him. Now he can't leave him alone, and understands the breed is far from what he originally thought!

I blame the media and the bad handlers. As a breed they are fantastic

I had the same problems years ago with my last staffy. Had to offer more rent in the end.

Re: Why do people Sterotype Dogs?
It must be really frustrating.
We're quite lucky here in South Africa regarding body corporates and rentals. We only rent, but went to view a lot of places controlled by body corporate. Some places just had a general rule of no pets allowed, and the ones where pets were allowed never asked what breed etc.
We also don't have "dangerous dog breed" list, and even if we did, they would never be able to enforce or control it.

Re: Why do people Sterotype Dogs?
The same reason people stereotype people, no doubt. Makes things easier when they're classified, even if they're exceptions. You'll find somewhere I'm sure, not everyone are judgmental or ignorant.
