Realised something today
On our walk I just suddenly realised how far Daisy's come with her training. She was on the long line and would go off for a sniff or run ahead but then come back and walk by my side for a while before going off again. When we did see people she was good, far less distracted. I don't think I'd realised until today how much all our training has paid off!
I think I've made my mind up that she will stay on the line, as I don't think her recall is ever going to be 100% and she has a temper if another dog growls at her and you just never know if she comes across another off lead dog that catches us by surprise.
That's it really, just feeling pleased so thought I'd share
Poor daisy is very sleepy after our long walk, a bit traumatised too I think by her fall in the river followed by an actual bath!! Bless

Well done Daisy, she has come a long way Sazzle. Sounds very similar to where we are with Rocky too, likely to be more of an on lead dog rather than off, but still a long lead at that.

I just think it's for the best, don't get me wrong she is not aggressive at all, she's never growled at another person or dog but if they growl or go for her she's at their throat in a second and they always come off worse! She's had a few scuffles at my mums always over toys or food as you'd expect!

Well done to both of you, if keeping her on the long line makes you both feel more at ease then that can only be a good thing.

Far better to be safe than sorry if recall isn't 100 %

Re: Realised something today
Good to hear, your hard work has paid off. Lola's recall is better than Lily's I wonder sometimes if it a bitch thing as I have only had dogs in the past and they had built in recall, they just came back!

Re: Realised something today
I don't know, my sister's bitch grace is a staffy x springer and you've never known a dog with better recall!
My gut feeling tells me that Daisy's past has something to do with it, I don't know where she came from or what circumstances as she was a rescued from the pound. But there is just the odd little thing that makes me wonder.
