This is my female turtles tank with a home made above tank basking area

wow.. what a great set up !!
A few years back I saved a turtle that the crows had overturned and were pecking at it.. ruddy crows!! And last year a turtle was trying to cross the highway so we stopped and I picked him up, put him in the back of the ute, and we released him near our dam. Every now and then I see him. But boy did my hands stink for days! Are they naturally smelly if you handle them?? I love turtles though regardless if they are smelly!

..that's interesting to know. Must just be wild turtles that pong then ( or Aussie turtles! ) I could never let any critter suffer that's for sure!

Nice turtles lisa i had 2 red eared turtles a good few years back now, i gave them to a primary school in the end

I've never had any turtles, but I like looking at them in pet shops etc. Like tortoises they fascinate me - the colours & shapes of their shells are beautiful.

We used to have some turtles but the heater was faulty and the water over heated and killed them we were devastated the kids were so upset it was heartbreaking

Not really.As long as you have the basics covered,the right lighting etc,there pritty easy to keep.Just a little expensive to start of with.
