Meat in a kong
Hi
I just wanted to check about putting meat in the boys kongs, we have some frozen chicken mince (natures menu) i think they would like in them but dont want to poison them.
Is it ok to cook the chicken mince then freeze it in the kong ?
If i use it raw is it ok to slightly defrost it, stuff it in the kong then refreeze it again?
Thanks

Absolutely fine to give raw, not sure about the defrosting as I don't feed raw but someone will be able to help there

Re: Meat in a kong
We dont normally feed raw, i got them the mince as a treat but when we gave it raw they had terrible upset tummys (daft owner, presumably cos they are used to eating kibble)
So i cooked some and mixed with rice and they yummed that and were fine, but not sure if that can be refrozen in the kong?
But do you think raw might be ok coz they only eat a little at a time from the kong?
Sorry probably stupid questions but am veggie so dont have a clue about meat hygiene
Thanks

It would be OK to give them the cooked chicken frozen in the Kong, just ensure you cook it thoroughly then freeze straight away once cooled.

I put peanut butter in their Kongs - they actually want us to go out so they can have them

Re: Meat in a kong
Do you fill it full with the peanut butter or just smear it round the inside?

I only put raw meat in the boys kongs.
Yes you defrost and refreeze until your hearts content doesn't matter with dogs

Hi I Cooked some turkey mince, chopped up into big squares (just slightly bigger than the kong opening) I then freeze them and push a couple in with other yummy fillings- squeezey cheese, pâté, marmite, honey, peanut butter, or apple pieces. Keeps him busy for ages :-)

Fill them :-) That's probably why they want us to go out
