RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
THEY REALLY ARE RUBBISH! well thats my opinion anyway... basically i live in a block of flats and my friend lives in the block of flats next to me,and for the past 2 days we have been out on her balcony and can hear a dog panting very very heavy, and it absolutely stinks out there like dog poop and wee, with a lot of flys flying around, i explained this to the RSPCA and i said its obvious that the dog is suffering and needs caring for straight away, then all i was told was that the detail have been passed on and it may take up to 28 days for them to go out and look, 28 days? really? thats just wrong!!!! my friend has managed to stand on the edge of her balcony and put some water up to the dog, but then it sounds like the dog trys to stand up and then falls down, we have knocked the door but no answer, and the lights haven't been on either.. its now gone quiet out there so the dog is either sleeping or worse ( dont really wana say but you can guess) if this goes on tomorrow then im getting in touch with the rspca again and the police because something needs to be done and fast! its killing me knowing that the dog is out there suffering, im not sure what type of dog it is but by the sound of it panting its sound like a medium to large dog.... just thought id share this story and get it off my chest as im so angry and upset

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
Don't get me started on the R$PCA! They'll act on a high profile problem, or anything that'll get the "Awwww" vote from the public, but other than that they're crap!
Poor dog.
Poor dog.

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
I hate the RSPCA too They only give a damn if theres a camera crew following them!
Its horrible when you know an animal is suffering and theres nothing you can do about it. Id just keep ringing, to the point your bugging them!

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
I seriously hope this dog is ok.
If the RSPCA cannot act in time, I would personally phone the local police station on its non-emergency number and explain. They have the power to send someone out to investigate which, to be honest, they would possibly have to do to gain entry if the RSPCA were involved anyway.
The police did a "heat rescue" yesterday: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2372397/Dog-left-car-sweltering-30C-heat-rescued-setting-alarm.html

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
Surely if you can ring the police over a dog in a car , then surely you can ring them about a dog left on a balcony in red hot weather, with potentially no one looking after it...
Please keep us informed, i have everything crossed for the poor baby x

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
If i were you i would phone the police immediately and not wait for the RSPCA to get in touch because they won't, they prefer animals dying so they can prosecute the owner and get some money but not have to look after the animal.

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
My neighbours are the same sometimes... they leave there dog chained up for hrs on end...they never take him for a walk or let him run around the garden (not that he can as the whole garden is about 6ft of weeds apart from a 4ft circle they strim for dog.) in this heat when i sit outside the smell of wee and poo is sooooooo bad i cant even open the windows .. Hubby says i should phone RSPCA but the dog is fat and healthy looking so i know they wont do anything..
it just upsets me that people look after there dogs like that

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
Ring the police or your local council. The Animal Welfare Act 2006 empowered both the police and an 'inspector' appointed by the council. Note that this is a council employee, not an RSPCA inspector.
The RSPCA like to appear as if they have powers but in reality they have none. That is why they bring the police with them if they want to seize an animal. It is the police who seize it and then hand it over to the RSPCA.
If the police or the council tell you that it is not their job and that you should ring the RSPCA ask them where in the Animal Welfare Act 2006 it permits them to delegate their powers to others.
The Act is very clear. It does not give the RSPCA any powers whatsoever.

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
I work for Royal Mail and a postie reported an owner in our area for leaving dog tied up in garden, they had left a bowl of water but on several occasions the bowl was empty, so the dog had no water in this heat we are having. anyway he has been told they have been warned not to leave dog without ample water and they did this pretty quick, maybe some areas are better than other’s?

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
the front line are just like you and me, they care about animals. its what lies behind that is the problem. when you see that one of the top executives was paid in excess of £150,000 last year you can start to see where the problem lies. they are putting animals down while some * * can live in his mansion quaffing champange.
whats worse is that its a charity so do a walk for rspca and your funding some old boy and his rich lifestyle while the animals go to hell. no wonder funding is going down the tubes...

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
In work places like that you get told what to believe. the same is true of every work place where abuse occurs. you are told its OK and it is normal and to just shut your mouth and get on with it. The ones who dare talk out get such a thrashing that people are genuinely terrified of tlaking out. That is WRONG to me.

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
Bumped into a chap near here who used to be the local dog warden he said he would select the dogs that would be taken to RSPCA kennels and that he would travel as far as it took to to place the staffys/older dogs etc into kennels that wouldn't put dogs down and he even went so far as to pay out of his own pocket to put some into private kennels until rescue spaces came
Anyway Rich hope you contacted police and they have gained entry I'm presuming the owner is also ok? And not collapsed in the flat themselves?

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
They are pants. I went a few years back to get a buddy for Blue. I said I am after a female staffy. I have a male staff and 3 cats. They said we don't ever get any staffs that are good with cats and dogs so sorry we don't have any.
Thousands of homeless staffs but apparently none are good with cats....ever! No wonder they have problems getting them new homes. I think it was just down to not being bothered to do any tests or willing to try it in a controlled environment first to see how they get on

What utter baloney! Our 2 are so gentle with all 4 of our cats. How exasperating.........

Re: RSPCA ARE PANTS!!!!
We really struggled to get a rescue dog too, rspca said no cats or young children, even battersea say no children under 8.
Eventually found Alfie at a little local rescue place who checked out the kids and us and said fine.
but it seems daft, we wanted to rescue a staffy and there are sooo many needing homes but we couldnt find one they would let us have!
