Bella bowling over my 2 year old
Hi guys,
So I realise that Bella is still very young and won't get better at this for a while but I'm after some useful and practical tips for stopping the behaviour. Also, I know that little people (my kids) are tantilising for pups and even full grown dogs because their faces are so much closer and they can't resist a lick
There are times when my son comes into the room, or when Bella comes inside and see's him that she makes a full-on run-up and launches herself onto my son completely knocking him over - now I'm sure the visual image of this is creating a few giggles out there but I feel absolutely terrible about it. Most of the time though she simply goes on two legs and tries to lick his face, which is still extremely annoying. The launching only happens occasionally because I am usually hovering when these two meet and can stop her before she even tries but sometimes it comes out of nowhere and I cannot be standing over them all the times. Sometimes Bella is more gentle and only gently sniffs ( I praise her a lot when she does this because I'm very proud of her).
So my plan moving forward is to hover when they first meet, call Bella over to my little tike, ask her to sit and than he can pat her. Any other suggestions? It is very hard for both my kids to do the turn your back on her thing because they can get caught up in trying to get away and my son is too small, he'll just get pushed over. Also, they are my this stage a bit apprehensive (she is such a pocket-rocket) and don't really like to go outside when she is out there. My son is very good and tells her 'Down, down' whenever she goes on two legs but until he is bigger this isn't enough.
Any advise appreciated. BTW I love the fact that she loves the kids so much and that they are growing up together but I'd really like to curb this behaviour.

It will click if you just carry on as you are, Vinnie has often had me down even now, and I am not much taller than a 2 year old! It will improve:)

Un update on Bella. Not long after I posted this she seemed to calm down a bit. She no longer jumps up at either of the kids at all!!! She'll come up and have a lick and say hello - she is wonderful with them. I hadn't expected her to settle down for months yet.
Well done Bella you are a great little sister!
