Weight advice :)
Iv'e seen this covered elsewhere in the forum but none for specifically 12 weeks so thought I could ask a few opinions.
We got Cooper at 8 weeks and weighed at 1.4kg
2 weeks later he was 2.35kg - Vet said healthy gain
Now 11 days later (now 12 weeks) he is a whopping 6.6kg - vet nurse said not to worry - they will fluctuate.
He does not look fat, he is very active and plays in garden most of the day, when not in crate or playing with us. I don't have any concerns about him physically - he doesn't appear to be fat, is anything he still has lots and lots of flabby skin wrinkles (which I love).
His Dad was a massive boy and we are expecting him to follow suit. He eats NatureDiet and mix which he loves - 4 times a day, just an eighth of a pack and a handful of mix at each meal - he usually leaves a small amount.
I've seen other staff pupps who look more filled out at this age. Whereas he doesn't.
I suppose I am asking, is he normal weight for his age? And when should he start to fill out more?
Thanks
Lesley

He's beautiful!
It's probably not what you want to hear, but they all grow at different rates. As long as he isn't fat or losing weight, then he's doing fine!

Milo is 21 wks old and he was just under 15kg when i took him the vets a week and half ago, you can still see his ribs a little but i think most of it his round his neck/shoulders because he is pretty big for how old he is i think

Re: Weight advice :)
They definitely do grow fast, but weight wise, all dogs do grow differently so there is no real 'right weight' as long as your pup looks healthy and is eating right, im sure he will be fine! Our vet as well as people on the forum advised me (when I had a similar question) that if you can see a clear waist line and generally feel the last 2 ribs, that they are at a healthy weight.

Re: Weight advice :)
That is fine Like you said, as long as your vet is advising your pup is okay you really have nothing to worry about, and if you are a feeding a good food for you pup and following the recommended doses, he will be fine
P.S. Cooper is a cutie!

Re: Weight advice :)
He looks great and a very healthy weight. Don't focus too much on his weight but more if he is eating and drinking and if he looks proportional.

You should be able to easily feel their ribs without pushing across them.
Having said that being able to see their ribs is completely fine, my boys you can easily see their last 7-8 ribs but they are healthy lean dogs

Re: Weight advice :)
Would you say that black staffy on the banner of this website (which is gorjus) has the perfect weight ?
I dont want to be able to see my dogs ribs,i for sure dont want him to be overweight not sure if i want the back end of my dog to be to differen't to his front if that makes sence

The dog in the banner looks in good condition but without a better photo you can't see his whole condition.
But you should be able to feel your dogs ribs by gently running your hand over them, if you need to push hard or prod to feel them theres to much fat covering them
