Scary please help
I had the most horrible situation tonight. I was at work but my OH was at home. The Oz was in the garden , my OH nipped upstairs for just a moment and Oz jumped over a 5 ft fence then another 5 ft fence and attacked our neighbours black lab. Luckily our neighbour managed to separate them but had to punch and kick Oz to prize him off the other dog. Goodness knows what would ave happened if our neighbour hadn't have been in his garden.
Both dogs are ok but I now don't know what to do. Do we phone RSPCA where we got him from for some advice? I really don't want to send him back as apart from hating other dogs he is an absolute sweetie.
Even when our neighbour hit Oz he never attacked him, he loves humans. Everyone was really shook up by it thank goodness we get n with the neighbours. They did ask f he was a fighting dog? We don't know as we don't know his history. I thought t as a bit of a silly question but as they were really shaken I didn't react.
I clearly need to get some trellis to make the fence higher but does anyone have any other suggestions?
He really so soft with people and a real shame he as this dog problem
Please can you help

Re: Scary please help
That must have been really scary for you!
Adding extra hight is a must, ring the RSPCA by all means, just dont give up on him. A lot of dogs are dog agressive and it can be delt with and lived with so dont think the best thing is to put him back into a kennel where he will be branded an agressive dog and the worst may happen! Someone will be along shortly with advice as ive not dealt with this myself.
Im glad the dogs are both ok

Re: Scary please help
First as you already say you need to make your garden more inescapable . It is a fact that all dogs do not like all other dogs and you have to be aware of this. I had an incident with Tommy where he got hold of next door's dog and it all got out of hand with the neighbours resulting in silence but we know and are aware and from that we can control, there was no damage done . The positive you have is the fact that you are very clear that no aggression towards any person was shown

Aww Sara you must have all got a fright, I've no personal experience unfortunately, but raising the fence will stop him jumping, as will watching him whilst in the garden. I'm just glad no real harm was caused.

Re: Scary please help
One thing i would advice is NEVER leave a dog in the garden unsupervised for any length of time, even a couple of seconds they can be up and over a wall.
Definitely raise the height of your fence, but be aware dogs can get over high fences if they are determined, Chance can scale 8 foot + fences as if they are nothing.

How awful for you, its all experiences we have to learn by so secure garden and supervision. Don't give him up though its not the end of the world just be aware in the future.

Oh what a horrible experience, im so sorry that must have really shaken you up! No experience either, but definitely raising the fence height and calling RSPCA for some advice would be good
