Stupid virus!
Just had to do a system restore because malware somehow slipped past my antivirus. Looked up the virus and it's a potentially nasty one, so I had to wait ages for a system restore, then wait even longer for my antivirus to install updates. Eurgh.
Whoever created that virus, I hope they find maggots in their pillow!

Though that could just be because the antivirus needed fixing, so system restore did that.

Re: Stupid virus!
system restore doesn't get rid of virus only and full factory reset will aka. reformat
Re: Stupid virus!
You're kidding me, right? I don't even know how to do that.
Plus, I don't know if the virus is actually still there. The pop-ups have stopped since I did an update on my anti-virus. Is there a way to find out for sure if there is a virus?
Also, what's the difference between malware and a virus?

I don't remember the name of it though. I searched it earlier on Google and it said it was malware. It was a pop-up which came up every time I opened a webpage such as Google, but my pop-up blocker stopped it. Since I updated my antivirus, the pop-up hasn't come back.
Does that mean it's gone?

Eleanor, if it's malware, download the free edition of Malwarebites & run a scan.

You often can't just uninstall them.
She's downloaded an anti-malware software & scanned the laptop. 40 malware items came up & they've been deleted. The malware item that caused the problem has gone now, but she's doing another scan to make sure.

if she asn't remove the things she as install it wouldn't just go like that read the link i have posted....
Re: Stupid virus!
having more then 1 anti virus on the pc would do more damage to your pc then the virus
Re: Stupid virus!
Steve, the anti-malware software removes it. During the scan it isolates it, then you click to remove it.
It isn't an anti-virus, it's an anti-malware. I've got an anti-malware (Malwarebytes), an anti-spyware (SuperAntispyware) and an anti-virus. They all work well together & all three pick up different things.
