help needed
Hi all.
I posted a topic terrible time. And followed advice given etc so just really lookin for some more help.
Pup is now 15 weeks n pretty big as only pup in litter. Shes great in general very chilled at times and sits beside u on couch for ages n sits, stays, lie down, all tht jazz. Our prob however is she is very bad for biting she is very vicious about it the noise is horrendous she snarls n makes this really scary noise. I know shes a pup and they mouth but my mum is goin crazy and is concerned shes going to be a viscious dog. She is all marked and cut from her mad hours and wen on walks she decides to jump up and nip and she caught her tummy!
Its a nightmare as its our first staffy but weve had other bull breeds but none were like this! I dnt know if its because she was only pup.
My mum is worried shes gonna end up really bad.
Thanks in advance

Re: help needed
Hi, Rocky can get a bit carried away at times and he does get all growly and bark at us, nips at our hands, but it was definitely worse when he was teething, he is now 5 months and is not as bad as what he used to be, especially with loads of chew toys, kongs, bones, ropes to keep him busy.

Re: help needed
Please try not to worry, darcy is very vocal when she plays, and was an awful biter, but with patience & persistence following advice from here, she rarely bites now it does get less & less, read the link Maria posted it will help

I can't offer too much advice since I don't have experience with puppies.
But don't worry, it is not a sign that she is going to be vicious, she is just being a puppy. Don't compare to your other dogs, they are all different

Re: help needed
The biting/nipping can be quite confronting .. especially when they are growling and being vocal as they do it!! I can still remember feeling quite shocked the first time Chiquito did it, it really gave me a fright!
Please do remember though that it is not aggression .. this is just staffy puppy play It is in no way an indication that the puppy will be an aggressive/vicious dog when grown, and the link that is above will help you (with time and patience) to work toward stopping the behaviour.
Perhaps your mum could pop on to the forum and have a read of the link and the responses to your post ... we would be more than happy to provide answers to any questions she has as well!!

Re: help needed
Jenson is now 23 wks old and he was very bitey he has now only really started to stop although we still get a few nips here and then esp when excited but its not aggressive at all ... i think your mum should def pop on here and read some of the posts as its not unusual and no where near to being aggressive its just puppy behaviour As for the sounds .. Jenson is very snarly and growly but again its just play ... mainly when we play tug or chasing after the ball with him .. he barks, growls and snarls but its not aggressive its just their way. I wont lie it is scary when they first do it esp as i have small children but even they dont care now and just tell him to be quiet and stop being grumpy in a sarky fun way It does seem never ending but it calms down ... honest

Re: help needed
Daisy is also very vocal, when we play tug of war she sounds like she's about to kill me! If you work on the bite inhibition I'm sure he'll be fine :-)

Re: help needed
Thanks all.
I know full well its over excitedness. Iv just had an arguement with the parental cos she said shes not keeping her. Was round at sisters this mornin babysitting and the pooch was gettin excited and mouthin a bit which i stopped by gettin her attention making her sit and rewarding. All was fine then my mum let her in garden n 2 min later she shouts me and says shes not doin this anymore, her arm is all bites and bleeding and im like wtf!!!! So thn my mums upset and im upset cos i know this is getting really bad so i took the dog and went home.
I dont get this at all i have and have always tried to do my best with her to avoid this but it seems everyday is getting worse :'( im in such a panic this wont work but its scary the bites my mum has and she has ripped her tops too snapping. I know shes young and teething and iv even said to mum well u wouldnt rehome a teethin child if it bit u. She doesnt seem to understand bite inhibition at all. Yelping turning away ignoring her etc etc etc doesnt do a thing cos she just gos for whatever she can.
I just dont know what to do, i feel theres somethin with my mum though cos i habe been caught by her teeth but she is always seeming to get really badly hurt.
I know you all prob think im just an idiot cos its gettin rediculous but i need to talk to people who know best (u guys)
Im so sorry for the rant and any further help would be amazing, i love my staffy to bits

Re: help needed
Again try not to worry, keep doing what you are and I am sure it will gradually get much better. Vinnie is extremely vocal and it is a scary to others but its just excitement, but the biting does need to be corrected.
