Dog friendly cottage near Coniston
We have just returned from a week in the lakes. This was Deez's first holiday, and he absolutely loved it. (Pics to follow)
We stayed in a really nice cottage, which was finished really nicely, 56" inch tv, hot tub, next door to a dog friendly pub, little private garden, etc etc.
The cottage is owned by the pub: the Wilson Arms, Torver, so you can google it, but I would really recommend this luxury, chilled out cottage.

Re: Dog friendly cottage near Coniston
Oooh sounds like it ticks all the boxes for me , we are looking for somewhere maybe over xmas , failing this we've decided to ditch Cornwall next year in favour of a change of scenery and the Lakes is my favourite , would they be ok with 2 dogs ?? did they leave out throwovers expecting the dogs to jump on the furniture etc

It's not cheap over Xmas/new year, but none of them are!
We took throws for the sofa, but it's all wooden or slate flooring, so dog hair is easily swept up.

Yes, it's not cheap. The pub rooms are dog friendly I think?
Great place, Deez loved it. :-)

Wow it looks amazing, and it's near Ambleside, my favourite shopping town anywhere.

It's not that bad when you consider there are 3 of us , 2 dogs and its Xmas , bigest hurdle I've got is my daughter who doesn't want to be away from home for xmas but she's 13 and doesn't believe in Santa no more (she was the one that told me he suffocated in a chimney last year , I was gutted )
We probably spend £2-300 on the xmas shopping and then get loads of silly presents that we will never use , so a few cutbacks in favour of something different and it is much more workable

Re: Dog friendly cottage near Coniston
Due to the fact Deez doesn't travel light, with the bed, throws toys etc, there isn't masses of room in the car, so we got our shopping delivered after an online shop - it was brilliant!

Re: Dog friendly cottage near Coniston
was the wifi a good signal or did you have to stand in the garden holding your laptop out to god
PS3 , plenty games ???
TV in 2nd room ok ??
These are all mega plus points to sell a holiday to a girl that will be 14 yrs old the day after we get there , told her she can take a mate but kids tend to do the family thing over xmas

Wifi was ok, not very strong, but ok for Facebook etc, and very strong in pub next door, and they are very friendly to let you sit about in there.
We took our own games for ps3, maybe hire some?
Tv was fairly small in second room, like an iPad size, but good picture.
Maybe the free hot tub could swing it? :-)

Daughter is getting swayed already , pub menu looks good but very pricey , like the fact I could roll in for breakfast though , think by Sunday I may have won and we could have a booking

Janey come on , don't tell me you can't appreciate how a maturing daughter can influence a holiday outcome for good or bad , so easier to make sure they are reasonably happy
And I don't know how far away the church is if we need to perform an emergency exorcism

Summer hols are like this no problem , we just need some extra tools in the box for her to happily come away from home at xmas , it's much easier for her to want to go rather than telling her we are going

Re: Dog friendly cottage near Coniston
Quite a distance unfortunately but you don't go to the lake district to spend time on the beach , the most beautiful countryside in the whole of the UK for sureMandz wrote:This looks lovely!!! Does anyone know how far away the nearest beach is?
