Soon to be Staffy mom!
For the past few hours at work, i've been looking into what i need to get ready to welcome
home our new furbaby staffy and coming across this site has been beyond helpful
I currently own an 8 year old male chihuahua, whom I've owned since he was 6 weeks old.
I'm worried about how this could affect him, being that he's always lived as an only child, and the times
i've taken care of others animals while they've been on vacation, have given him nightmares
Chico's great with cats, being that he acts like a cat himself
He minds his own business, isn't mean or hostile, but he does not like meeting/greeting dogs the "doggy" way.
My boyfriend and i have our hearts set on this little pup, and we finally have the time and the SPACE to be great furparents!
anyone been in the same situation? i need advice on how to introduce the new bundle of joy into our new home to our grandpa of a teeny dog!

Re: Soon to be Staffy mom!
Hi & welcome.
Would the breeder of your pup allow you to bring your dog to see the pup? Careful, gentle introductions, of course, and only if your current boy has all his vaccinations up to date.
Failing that, ask for a piece of cloth that has been rubbed on the pup & let your dog sniff it, and even sleep with it if he wants so that the pup's smell isn't totally alien to him!

Hi and welcome!
Caryll's advice is really good!
I assume that the pup will be too young to go for a walk when you get him but maybe at least let them meat outside at a neutral spot for both and let them get used to each others presence before taking them inside?
