Katy's growing up
Been saying for the last month or so, Katy must be due to start her 1st season. Well I was looking at her laying on our bed yesterday morning, belly up as usual thinking her nipples were showing more than normal. Out in the car later I thought she had dropped something on her seat cover, but no it was blood!!! Off I go to PAH to get her some pants, they only had diapers(very American I thought we called them nappies over here) Anyway I thought make her feel better I bought her a interball as well £35 lighter now In the picture the dog is standing it was like a wrestling match!!!! She's sooooooo not impressed, I have to keep one eye on her when she is wearing one as she is desperate to remove it by either biting it off or rubbing hard against the sofa. She has slept a lot today, not tried quiet so hard to remove nappy. Think she's getting used to it (only has them on indoors & removed at bedtime) But boy what sad eyes she's been giving me I keep telling her it wont last for long but she makes me feel guilty

Aww, poor thing! Try not to feel bad about the nappy - most of the sad eyes will be because of the season. I'm sure the women of the forum can understand why! *Hugs*

Re: Katy's growing up
Thanks girls, I keep telling her that I know how she feels. I think she feels like she's done something wrong, having to wear them & walkies on her 30ft lunge line. I've told her its her chastity belt She has been really good so far, I know its the last couple of weeks that she will be more of a tart than normal. Then its spaying time!!!!!! Just seen an advert for keyhole spaying in Ashford so might enquire into that, less stress & quicker recovery time they say. But will depend on cost, been quoted roughly £200 for normal spay at my vets

£200 seems expensive , we only paid £120 for Tilly and that was early 2012

I thought so to Dave, my sister has a german shepherd (1 day older than Katy) she's been told £158. Might be my vets isn't one of the big firms, rural vet probably dearer

Re: Katy's growing up
well depends how you feel about your vet really . TBH If I had to pay £200 and could get it done cheaper elsewher I would be paying the £200 as I like my vet and have faith in him . We rescheduled the OP for her as Ralf was going to be on hols and I didn't want a locum touching my baby

I get on really well with my vet & they have been great with Katy. I wouldn't go to another vet just because they are cheaper, but i'm interested in this one in Ashford that does keyhole for Katy's benefit

Re: Katy's growing up
I know we have had a member on here do the keyhole spaying , just can't recall who it was , not sure if the recovery time is improved though , it wasn't an option for me as I didn't know about it

Not sure yet, will give them a ring this week for details. I only want the best treatment for my girl, either way I will be taking time off to be with her during recovery

Keyhole surgery, an operation done but the least amount of invasion.

Re: Katy's growing up
Thanks Kathy, she managed to get her nappy off in the car while I was working 1 job (shredded nappy everywhere) Think she must think she has done something wrong, having to wear them & not being allowed off lead like normal. Hope the time goes quick

Re: Katy's growing up
Awww Katy is becoming a big girl! They are so good at giving those sad puppy eyes and making us feel terrible!!! I wish her a speedy season! Gwen is 6 months old now and I feel like she's still way too much of a baby to even think about her going through her 1st season!
