Have you looked at buying online, I use
www.chemistdirect.co.uk
or
www.petmeds.co.uk ,
I find it far cheaper and if you buy the food you get free delivery over £40

I don't worm unless necessary! Also don't use chemical wormers on my dogs.

I don't use flea treatments but will always worm.
How come you don't worm out of interest as I have never heard of anyone that doesn't? Xx

Re: Worming tablet
I send samples away to wormcount.com and worm if there is any trace of worms! I don't see the point in treating unnecessarily.
I used to use Advocate, until I read some horror stories about it and also the way the dogs acted when I went to out it on. Sierra has had 2 Milbemax tablets in her life at 8 weeks and 10 weeks and nothing since then and both dogs are worm free.

Re: Worming tablet
Yeah fair enough but you also could just be one of the luckiest ones, suppose now you have said this i will do some research tonight to see if the pro's outweigh the cons.
Or even just worm him every month like said to 6months and then once at 1 year and then take your approach,it would be very damaging for the puppy if he had untreated worms and by the time you notice if you notice that puppy would of lost out so much nutration in his early days

I naturally worm if needed, by using Diatomaceous Earth. That will give you something to look into aswell! Natural ways aren't for everyone but just my opinion

Everyone is different! The world would be a boring place if everyone done everything the same lol! This way works for me so will stick with it!

Re: Worming tablet
I don't use flea treatment but religiously worm every 3 month and have my outlook reminder set so I don't forget. Used to use Drontal but switched to Milbemax because of the added protection with lung worm and heart worm.
Only problem is you need a prescription for Milbemax so only get it from the vet to save the hassle, I think the vet told me I was allowed to get a prescription that would cover them for 2 treatments and that would be £9 each so it doesn't work out to be worth it by the savings you can make online.
Drontal on the other hand you can save quite a lot as you don't have the prescription charges

Re: Worming tablet
Rocky has Drontal wormer every 3 months too. We have to give him flea treatment every 6 months (I dont trust some of the locals around here to treat their animals for anything should they need it so has to have the treatment).

Re: Worming tablet
I will always worm. Mainly because of the Toxocara worm whose eggs may be present in the dog's faeces before you get a worm count. These worms, if they come into contact with a child (and you can't know that you've picked up every tiniest speck of poo) can cause blindness & with it, excrutiating pain. I will not be a party to that possibility.
I use Milbemax because it also gives some protection against lungworm.
