I would go for a female as I think generally one of each will get on better but whatever you decide you'll need to introduce them first to make sure they get along

I'd always advise to go with the opposite sex, so a female. But make sure at least one of them is neutered so that there's no chance of an accidental litter!

Re: What do you guys think?
For two dogs my preference would be male and female, though a lot depends on personality, background, age of new dog etc, though I do know lots of people with two dogs of the same sex and they get on great.
We recently got a third dog, a male staffy, so I now have two males and a female (not all staffies only the puppy is). I don't think I would ever have two bitches, I don't believe my female boxer Rikki would tolerate another adult female in the house long term, she'd probably be fine with a puppy but possible problems when the dog matures. Again many people have two or more bitches that get on fine but I would always be worried that if any issues developed between them it would be much harder to modify than with two males. Are you planning on getting a puppy or an older dog?

Re: What do you guys think?
I have never had two dogs together but if we were to ever get another it would be a sister for Rocky rather than a brother.
We would always rescue now so would take Rocky along with us to the rescue centre so a compatible friend could be found for him with the help of the rescue centre qualified staff in a controlled environment.

Re: What do you guys think?
my only advice would be,,,,have a good think about what you will do if things go wrong
i only say this as ive been thinking about it for years, since i got billy ive wanted another but iam worried it wouldnt work out and iam stuck with two dogs with two living conditions,,,how far are you willing to go to provide both dogs everything they need?,,because if i decide to purchase another its not getting rehomed, lol
peace out and all the best
