I love the idea of sticking little flags with cryptic messages onto abandoned poo piles.

Re: Dog Poo
Interesting article but can't see how sticking flags in it or painting it will change the owners , they need to be caught in the act and punished or shamed. If I see anyone do it I always try and shame them ( the other week a couple walked past me and then rolled their eyes at the dogs , proceeded to walk on and then let their spaniel poo without cleaning it up , I offered them a bag they went red and just walked on )

Re: Dog Poo
You wouldn't think picking up poop could possibly be that hard would you ... it's not like they have to do it with their bare hands.

Re: Dog Poo
There's a lady who lives near me (I pass her house whenever I walk to work with Dempsey) who has a grass verge right outside her house. Loads of dog owners use it as a dog toilet, so I can understand her being p*ssed off, but she sticks little flags with messages on them in the piles of poo.
I really can't see the point. All it does is paint her as a silly eccentric - the people who can't be bothered to pick up after their dogs don't care how many little flags there are!

Re: Dog Poo
I think the best thing to do is to fine people for not picking it up. It's actually a serious health hazard. Naming and shaming works really well too.

Re: Dog Poo
I agree with Eleanor name and shame them and fine them, they put their names in the local paper here.

Oh, don't the little flags work then Caryll? I suppose in themselves they can be an eyesore, but at least walkers will see them and know where not to tread. On the other hand, little children might think they are fun to pick up, which doesn't bear thinking about, so ...... I'll abandon that idea.
Dave's story of the "too posh to pick-up" spaniel owners was amazing - you would have thought that they would have responded to Dave's offer of a spare poo-bag with "oh thank you, we used our last one a mile back" even if it wasn't true. Let's hope they remember their red faces and resolve to mend their ways.
