hi guys please i really need some expert advice on this one. of late iv been feeling sorry for my pup he seems lonely and in need of a companion other than myself so i have decided to get another puppy. what i would like to know is if another staffy is suitable? and if you would recommend i get a another male or a female. are two staffies a handful? if so what other breed of dog would compliment a staffy? im not a fan of small or toy breeds but i cant have a large dog either, hence the reason a staffy is perfect. i would greatly appreciate some help on this topic, it would be a nightmare if i just went ahead and got another pup not having done enough research about compatibility.

ideally you should have a minimum ov 18months age differance so the older dog can learn the pup good traits but still be young and still playfull at the same time.
if going for another staff i would go for a girly
have you considered getting an older girl from a shelter

Agree totally. Although there are people who have coped very well with two very young pups, it isn't easy. You have to train them seperately for a start, so you'll need to spend twice the time on them.

Either wait, as Warren says, until your pup is 18 months/2 years old, or look at adopting an older rescue dog.

I'd definitely go for a bit.ch.

i was considering getting a 3/4month old girl. would this be problematic? pumba has a very respectful temperament towards other dogs. he is not aggresive, he is respectul and not domineering. pumba has already been well trained and responds well to being repremanded, obedience is not an issue as is, however that could of course change with the addition of another brat Laughing thanks for the heads up about the age difference, truthfully speaking i dont think i can wait that long as it breaks my heart wen i see him looking lonely, i would rather endure the the ups n downs of two pups. im sure i will tear my hair out knowing im doing it for a great cause

I think that a 3 or 4 month old girl would be way too young. Of course, I don't know your circumstances as to how nuch time you could spend on each dog. Although you say that Pumba is well trained, he is far from fully trained at his age.

As I said before, you would have to train each of them seperately and this would be time consuming. They would also teach each other any bad habits they pick up!

However, nobody can make your mind up for you, in the end it's your decision.

I haven't a clue on 2 together. I would love another but haven't the space. If you have the time and space and can be with them them whilst they grow up then thats great, I can imagine it being hard work though

im studying cfa full time so im home most hrs of the day, im extremely active as well, which is part of the reason i chose this breed, they compliment my personality and way of life very well as it stands. i dont mind the hard work. i jst wanted to know based on a balance of probabilities its feasible.

It's feasible, but most won't recommend it.

If you do get another pup, though, don't forget to post pics on here! Big Grin

Well I have always had 2, until now when I have just the one dog. Previously I had a brother and sister at 8 weeks, and before that a dog first and when he was 1, I got him a sister. Never had any problems and in fact would say life is much easier with 2. Most people think its a definate no no to have two from the same litter but I found it double the pleasure. My advice is to go for it, but never have 2 males together. Good Luck.

I would wait until your puppy grows and matures if I was you and I would also get opposite sex if you do decide to get another.

I would say go for a bi.tch and if you have the time and patience to train and look after two pups then go for it, but I want to see pics of them both lol good luck in making your decision. Wish I had the time to get another pup Ty would love it.
