Garden security
Our back garden may not be as secure as we first thought. Our back garden leads to the front garden, our back gate is waist height and leads onto a public foot path, if Roxy is at the back gate someone could easierly reach over and snatch her, our front gate on our drive is constantly being left open by the postman and the recent infestation of leaflet deliverers.
My question is is there a safe way to secure her in the garden in a safe part, my thinking was something like one of those screw in devises with a long lead attached. Or is there another solution.
She loves the garden and spends loads of time there but I know if we do not do something now she will either escape or be snatched.
Any ideas are welcome.

Re: Garden security
No. Always supervise her when she's outside - it's the only way to make sure she's safe!

Re: Garden security
Always supervise!
90% of our garden has at least a 7-8 foot wall but even when supervised Chance eassssily managed to jump over it after a cat into the next doors garden and back
Spelling boo boo!

Shame, but understandable, I am so so attached to her I would be devastated if we lost her, Supervision it is then, we thought we lost her earlier but she was hiding in a bush.

Re: Garden security
She might not be able to do it now, but when she's a bit bigger she could pull one of those screw stakes out & just go! Plus, she'll be able to scale such a low gate quite easily.

Re: Garden security
Its just a shame because she would happily spend all day in the garden.

Re: Garden security
Probably way too much for her in this weather anyway and sometimes they just don't know when to stop themselves and we have to take the reins

Re: Garden security
We have 8 ft fencing all around our property but someone is always out with Rocky whenever he is outside we dont take our eyes off him for a second that he is out there, you cannot be too careful.

Re: Garden security
Thought our garden was secure until Katy got bigger, now if she hears someone go past, she jumps the fence to greet them. Toilet trips are now on lead until she can be trusted!!!

Re: Garden security
Yeah agree. Im 99% certain Lola couldn't escape from our garden, but I couldn't live with myself if that 1% happened. Always have and always will be outside with her. Suppose it's not so bad as I smoke, so when I'm out she's out. Win win! anyway, I'm goin for a cig

Re: Garden security
Get a spring put on the gate, at least it will close when opened. May be you could fit a gate at the side of the house, seperating the front from the back, and supervise

Re: Garden security
I would not use a screw in lead thing, they are completely useless and you can't use them without supervision anyway. You can make your gates higher, get a post box which is on the outside of the gate, get a wireless doorbell for packages but end of the day supervision is the best way.

Re: Garden security
I must be awful because I don't always supervise, I always check on her every few minutes but go about with my housework and whatever else needs doing

Re: Garden security
We have decided to use the supervision method only, we would be heartbroken if she was lost/stolen.
