Play-mate for frankie..??? Empty Play-mate for frankie..???

Hi peeps. Am thinking of getting a play-mate for Frankie. Just wondering if it's to soon as he is only 14 weeks old. We as a family have had a talk and think another dog would be a great addition to our family. ( in for a penny in for a pound ) I just thought the sooner the better..??.. is there any real reasons i should wait..??..

Personally I would wait until he's abit older, I think sometimes people get one are managing well so get another and then realise they've taken on a bit too much!! Were you thinking of another puppy?

Or you could rescue an older dog! Really depends on the amount of time you can put into it Smile

I would probably say wait a while at least until Frankie is well setlled in with you first, 18 months would be a good gap to leave to ensure you are all confident with each other.

Personally .... I wouldn't entertain the idea of another puppy/dog on top of Chiquito at the moment - he seems to require more and more time and attention as the weeks go by. I would also not like to be trying to train a pup with another pup or an older dog around, it is hard enough to keep the attention of one active pup Smile

In saying this, if I had to have another I think I would go with an older dog rather than another puppy - though I would want to know that the dog was comfortable with an energetic, jumping, noisy little friend first!

I agree with ^^^above best to wait at least 18months, and a rescue would be a great idea then Smile

If you are thinking of an older rescue then as long as you go for an age gap of 18months -2years min and opposite sex it should go great for you . However , a pup is a handful and I would personally recommend to hang on until around 6 months old minimum or you may not be able to devote the time you would like into settling your rescue
