do you add sand to your compost when you grow them?

We dig in quite a lot of manure each year, but no sand. We've got a rotovator which breaks up the soil nice & fine so there's no need for sand.

just been reading carrot like it 2 part soil and part sand thinking they also like super fine soil rolling on the floor somehow i dont think i'm going get a foot long carrot

If the soil isn't fine they tend to make very strange shapes! The allotment's much too big to start fussing over whether there's enough sand etc in it! If it won't grow on the soil we have, then we don't grow it! Laughing
