Which food is better? Empty Which food is better?

Ok so I found lods of people saying that Pero is a good food, this is the website: http://pero-petfoods.com/dog-food/breed-specific-complete-dry-dog-food-for-german-shepherds-labradors-staffys/staffordshire-bull-terrier-bulldog-breeds/pero-staffordshire-bull-terrier-trial-offer.html

I was going to buy Arden Grange from: http://www.ardengrange.com/Pet-Food/adult-dog-food.asp

Which food do you think is best? Just want to know as I have no clue how to check and want to start to get Dragon on an amazing food, also he's a fussy eater and I read on Pero's review that some people with staffystud that don't like biscuits have been eating it all when before on their old foods they wouldn't etc, which is quite good for us I guess as Dragon is so fussy with food specially biscuits he just throws them back on the bowl unless he's really hungry lol

Pero is a gimmick.

When looking at food you want the food that has the highest meat/protein content but has the lowest additives.

I feed wainwrights and my girl loves it.

I'm going to purchase orijen regional red food, from what I heard is the best dog food out there only down side is the price... But Dragon deserves it, since I can afford it, why not give it a try, I'm going to order a small bag for now and introduce him this new food very slowly because from what I know it's a very rich food so I want to make sure he doesn't get an upset belly, if he does well on it I will buy a bigger bag, if I think it's not that good then I will be buying wainwrights or arden grange Smile

Pero is a good food but the breed specific lines they do are a total gimmick.

I fed Logan on JWB for ages there he loved it and did well, but he is very picky and goes off food after a while.

He has been on Arden now for a few weeks and it seems good Smile

Again, stick to the average priced foods like these though, there is no need to spend over the odds. Smile

Pero's breed specific food is a gimmick. Not a bad food, but not one of the best either.

Orijen's ok, but it's vastly expensive, and it has so many different meat protein sources in it that if your dog is intolerant of one of them you won't be able to tell which one!

I'd stick to good quality, mid priced food. In the long run it's just as good.

The best way to fed is to properly feed the raw method. But it isn't possible for everyone, so imo the best way to fed is something hypoallergenic, grain free and meat at the first ingredient (not meat meal). With the occassional raw meal or treat

I get so iritated with these high priced foods, sure they are good and get good reviews but so do the mid priced ones. A lot of dogs on this forum are fed on mid range brands and they look totally stunning.

Don't forget that as well as being the best, raw is also probably the cheapest way.

Kuchar is also a fussy eater and I have torn my hair out trying to find something he will eat. He wouldn't touch dry food AT ALL - I tried mixing it with tasty things like liver or cooked chicken etc but he only picked the tasty bits out and left the rest. Eventually we settled on Hi-Life Moist Mince mixed with various "moist" foods, although he wasn't keen even then.

Then he had his "snip", 3 weeks ago now, and wouldn't eat anything! In desperation I went to PAH to get some of their little (65p) Wainwrights trays to mix with the Hi-Life, only to find that they have been apparently discontinued - anyway, I couldn't find them. So, again in desperation, I bought a pack of 12 Wainwrights trays, mixed flavours - turkey, duck and lamb. To my delight, these trays were bigger than the little trays I had bought before, and were a meal in themself. And he yums them up! I think I am correct in thinking (from previous discussions on this forum) that they are good quality food too (there's no information on the pack so I can't be sure).

They're better than most wet food. They're still mainly water, but the other ingredients (if I remember rightly) are ok!

Ah thanks Caryll, good to know.

I do understand the water content thing, but if my little so-and-so won't eat dry food (even if soaked in water beforehand, and believe me I've tried that as well!) I'd rather he eat that than nothing!

I just hope he doesn't go off it, the fickle little beast Smile

It may come across quite expensive but with the nutrition that in the food you don't need to feed as much so works out to be better value
