Have I created a pampered pooch?
I think I may have created a pampered pooch (as well as one with SA!) without meaning to!
I come home from work at lunch time and have done for the 7 weeks we have had Doug. During the 40 mins I'm home he gets a walk, normally about 15mins, a cuddle then I leave a stuffed Kong before I go out the door (no big fuss made anymore to ease his SA). The last few days he has behaved strangely before we go for a walk.
He'll stand by the front door as normal waiting for me to pop the harness on, tail wagging and body shaking as per normal but once we are out the door a whole new dog takes over....He stops at the end of the drive, sniffs the air then point blank refuses to go any further!
I can normally get a few feet up the road to the top but no further, he'll either sit or do that thing where his head goes down in defiance. He won't go in the garden either!
He will eat the Kong though so I'm wondering is he not wanting the walk so he can get the the Kong quicker?!
Either that or he can "predict the weather" as it's tipped down within minutes of being back in the house and he HATES rain!

Might be the weather, Loki would just refuse to move if it was cold, wet, raining, windy, chilly or even if there was a slight breeze maybe try to coax him with a favourite toy or something?

Maybe he thinks you are going to take him away. It could be related to his SA in that he feels safe in the house now knowing you always come back when you have gone out but when he is outside he doesn't have that security and is scared of being abandoned.

I was actually being sarcastic about the weather but you both may have a point that I hadn't seriously considered!
He does hate the rain but it's only really rained once we have been out and it's to late. He does a little "dance" with his feet as if he doesn't like to stand in it -silly boy!
I was worrying that it was something I had done again! I posted on here afew weeks ago that I had unknowingly given my otherwise perfect rescue boy separation anxiety

It could be the weather, or he might just not want to go out - with the weather we've had lately who can blame him?
Have you tried taking treats with you or a squeeky toy to tempt him?

Frankie often tries to turn around and drag me home once he's had a wee so he can have breakfast/ dinner quickly. As said maybe take treats with you to encourage him.
Oh and frankie is a very pampered pooch!!! Lol

I think it could be the weather too, maxi sometimes start pulling to her home and then 5-10 minutes later it is raining, so I definitely think they can sense that!
