Great day out and about
As the weather is getting better alot more people are comming out on our country walks, so for the past few weeks weve had to put up with the usual picking dogs up and throwing the kids into the tree tops to saftey but today we had a great day, it seems all the sane people were out and about. first off we were greeted by two westies running up, here we go i thought... but no what a loverly pair of dog social dogs and great owners as well. next was a JRT who was a sweetie (laska loved him) and more and more nice dogs and owners... seems like the true dog lovers were out in force today. but my fav dog of all was a loverly chocolate lab who was obv getting on a bit. he let out an excited almost horse like whinney and came trotting over to see the pooches who loved him to bits and when i strocked him he pushed himself into my legs bless him he was a right sweetheart. laska started licking his mouth in submission and marley sat and watched after a good sniff. what a boy he was and I wish I could pinpoint what he gave off that made my two respect him so much as it certainly wasnt agression. im fasinated by dog psychology and im always on the watch for bits and bobs of information but, this one beat me. must just be simply a trust and respect for an older dog. I really did fall for him, some dogs just melt me.
hope the good weather tomorrow brings em all out again.

Sounds like you had a lovely day. It's so nice when you have good walks like that instead of people avoiding you.

Ah I'm glad you had a good day out
Interesting about the licking, all of my family's dogs like to lick one of my mums dogs, his eyes and mouth? But I wouldn't say any of them are submissive towards him?

Maybee submissive was a slightley wrong word to use, more should i say respectfull. its usually a sign of a young wolf welcoming an older wolf back from a hunt expecting food to be regurgitated. in domestic dogs it could be interpreted as a greeting to someone really special with a high status and value to the pac, a provider just like you and me. as to why she would pick a random dog to do this to is a mystery. maybee she could could tell his age and maybee his wisdom, she usually jumps on most dogs but not this fella.
Hope you have a great few days of with your girl Moo Janey and hope it stays nice and sunny for you

Re: Great day out and about
Loki always licks his best friend Buster's mouth, submission or respect, it is very cute . So glad to hear you had a great day and met some lovely dogs and owners, same here and it's always a happy feeling, but especially if it's uncommon, I imagine.

Re: Great day out and about
sounds like a great day out , must say myself I've not encountered too many idiots recently , but a walk is not a walk unless you get at least 1

It really can make so much difference to a day when things go well on the walk. Rocky has a new girlfriend now, he met a lady who always give him a treat when she sees him, he is such a tart honestly.
