Food issues
We moved Barney onto Burns Sensitive as he had blood in his poo. The vet also tried him on probiotic and antibiotics and it did seem to clear up. But now his course is over, it has returned. The vet says it could be a case of changing his food. Should I just try another? If so, any suggestions?

Re: Food issues
It could be a change in diet but normally this results in runny poo. Is the blood dark or light in color? If it's lighter it's nothing too worry about and could just be a decrease in fiber. If it's darker it could be a sign of something more serious.
If you change foods it has to be done gradually over a 5-7 day period so their stomachs don't get upset.

It didn't really look dark, and even though we changed the food gradually it still happens. I don't want to drag him to the vets again. I did notice on his notes from the RSPCA they had noticed it too. Might speak to them.

Re: Food issues
His poo wasn't that solid either, so is it just him adjusting?

Just over 3 weeks. He was far too windy on canned food, so thought we'd give Burns a try. He seems to like it. Is Burns a good food?

Re: Food issues
I don't like Burns at all - the first ingredient in all of their food is either potato or maize, and the meat content is low and poor quality.
I'd try and switch (slowly) to james wellbeloved or a good quality fish based food such as fish4dogs or fishmongers & see if that makes a difference.

Ooh thanks! I'll take a look. He's currently asleep on my bed behind me!
