recently rescued a staffie and now she started to bite everthing
I adopted Sasha (she is about 11 months old) 9 days ago, she was very quiet at first then we had to leave her in the house on her own for just half an hour on Monday, since then if she sees anything in the house that must look tasty she picks it up and starts to chew it.
I am considering buying a cage for her (with a metal base) but not sure what size to buy or where to buy it from.
My mum is ill in hospital and we cant visit her together because we cant leave Sasha in the house alone.
I look forward to reading your replies.

Welcome a cage is a good idea, but you can't force her into it, you have to let her be comfortable being in it. Make it comfy with some blankets, put a nice toy in there, maybe a Kong or StagBar to keep her occupied. It's a gradual process which is hard for you given the circumstances, so could no-one look after her in the meantime while you visit your mum?
As for dealing with the chewing when she's out of the cage, whenever she goes to chew something, firmly but calmly tell her 'no' and then give her something she can chew on (I'd recommend StagBars for this, they're brilliant). She'll learn eventually.

A crate may well be a very good idea for you to use. However they must not be used as a punishment and your dog must be happy to go in it of his/her own accord. We just leave the door of Rockys open all the time and he will come and go as he pleases.
As far as size goes, choose the biggest one you can fit into the space available for it. Pets at Home have some on offer now:

A cage has been a god send to me. Unfortunately Alfie cant be trusted yet to be left alone because i wouldnt have a house to come back to!
But as said above you have to make it a place where Sasha enjoys going.
Try giving her some treats in there to start with or maybe feeding her in there, this way she will realise its not a horrible place to be.
As for when you are there, you could try rubbing vicks on areas she chews? A few members on here recommend it

Darcy loves her crate, she's been in it since we got her, we've never used it as a punishment, it's her sanctuary & everyone knows to leave her be if she puts her self to bed we never close the door, good luck & don't forget to introduce her to it gradually

Chiquito does not have a crate, however I have modified our back patio to make a smaller caged off smaller area just for him. As said above, introduced him to spending time in there over a couple of weeks, gradually increasing the amount of time he was left over that time .. he has settled well into the area and takes himself there to sleep etc when he wants to now. We also give him treats (like a kong) to keep him busy while he is there each day.
As for the chewing, Taras advice above is great ... a little bitter apple spray worked well for us on items such as the lounge in the first few weeks as well.
Hope your mother is well again soon

Agree with this and be sure to exercise her before you leave her alone so she will want to sleep. Also don't make a fuss out of leaving just go or it could make her nervous

Frankie has a dog pen rather than a crate which he loves. And you can make it bigger or smaller and it's easy to take down
It's a bit like this one
