Just saw my first bull terrier

Just saw the first bull terrier in real life!

It was a gorgeous (bloody huge!) male. No collar no lead but obviously with the fella it was walking beside. So that miffed me a bit. It walked past a little poodle without batting and eyelid and seemed well trained though. It was carrying a 2l coke bottle as a toy hahaha

Don't agree with any dog being walked without a collar, but the coke bottle sounds about right. They'll take anything squishable and noisy as their favourite toy!

They are gorgeous, there were two in the vets one time I was there, huge things

I can honestly say I have only had close meetings with 3 in my life (no including passing by in car etc)

I wish Dempsey could read this and realise that bullies are supposed to be well behaved!

we have 2 in Leek , met one personally at the reservoir and see the other when I'm out driving , both beauties white and white with a little black

I've only ever seen two in real life, my brothers neighbour had a all white one & a few months ago at a bull breed event in Liverpool I met another boy, who looked a lot like Dempsey truly beautiful

We met one in our local small park once and was very well behaved, just said hello to me and Rocky and was on his way again with his owner, gorgeous dog lovely red and white colouring.

I've met a few but none were what i would call huge, but harvey got on with one called Spud really well

There is a white one up the road from me, who Vinnie always gives a kiss through the gate when we walk by. He is beautiful and was a rescue but they had one before but lost him last year. His name is also Vinnie, so beginning to wonder why my boy likes kissing other boys! 

Now, I've said there aren't many locally, what did we pass tonight, but a magnificent white English Bull terrier.

Owner wasn't keen on us getting too close, so we left it at that.

Can't remember the last time I saw one.

spotted one today, in a house across the road from work being taken out for a walk, fair sized white with a brown patch across half on its head

They're pretty thin on the ground generally. When I first got Bandit the Stafford was little known outside certain circles & the BT was the popular breed. Now it's the other way round.

I think the health problems in BTs put a lot of people off (heart, kidney & hearing), but so did the size, and the reputation a few years back for 'bully rage'. Only ever spoken to one person who's actually witnessed that & it sounded scarey indeed. It took two big, strong men to just hold on to this dog until it calmed down. It's thought that it was a form of epilepsy, but no resaerch was ever carried out & it has been just about bred out now.

my friend has a big male BT called Ronnie, your right about not seeing too many about, a few about here but nothing major, my friend had to drive 500 miles to get one for under £1000 which i thought was crazy. About the only dog boss has met that i happily let him play 'rough' with but at the start its a humping match haha! lovely dogs although wasnt keen on their head at the start, have really grown on me though!!

I love them, i def plan to get one in the future when i have the time and money. i would get a bitch though, and dress her in pink
