Giving Blood/Platelets

I know we have a few members who give blood, but have we got any members who give Platelet donors?
I keep getting emails from giveblood uk to consider it.
Anyone done it?

interesting question as my 60yr old Aunt has a big problem now with platelets but I didnt realise you could donate them

With blood donations you give donate 4 times a year for males and 3 times for a female, but platelets you can donate 15 times per year

I should look into it as long as my smoking and alcohol addictions don't cause problems

Just looked into it and my nearest centre for platelets is Manchester which is about 40mins drive
