Tips with nylabone
hello, its me again with another problem with boss.
yesterday i was at pets at home getting him some food and id seen your dog toys list on another thread, but anyway, i came across the NYLABONE chicken flavoured and he shows no interest in it really.. chews it for a few seconds and changes to another toy lol. Anything you can do to encourage him to chew it?
cheers.

Re: Tips with nylabone
Just be careful with the nylabones/raw hide etc because it can't be digested properly (if at all?) and can swell up creating problems.
I give them to Logan but we just use them for Hide N Seek etc, he doesn't chew them either.
Those StagBars are fantastic, Pets at Home do them, just get a large or x-large one and chances are he'll love it
They are natural and can be fully eaten/digested. Also do a great job for pearly white teeth

Re: Tips with nylabone
For the nylabone maybe try smearing it with some peanut butter to encourage Boss to have a chew at it, Rocky also loves the stag bars which are great for chewers as they are a natural product.

Re: Tips with nylabone
I'm not keen on Nylabones. They say they're tough & can't be damaged, but I've seen some horrific damage caused by a stafford! They go very rough at the ends, and small bits can be chewed off - these bits can then accumulate in the stomch & cause health problems.
Try a stag bar - much healthier & chewable!

Re: Tips with nylabone
They are def in the Boucher Road one because I got one there not that long ago. I got an x-large one and it was around £13 I think. They last ages though fella and even though Logan isn't a big chewer in general, he's teeth are sparkling since!

Re: Tips with nylabone
You could always order one online - either fro Puredog or amazon. If you order them from amazon make sure they're good quality ones.

Re: Tips with nylabone
StagBar is the way to go they last ages, they're brilliant, Loki still has two of his and has a good chew on them before settling down to sleep.

Bacchus isn't keen on his nylabone either. It's consigned to the cupboard now. Always goes back to his Stag Bar and Kong. He always gets his Kong with a little sweet potato and peanut butter at bedtime or the Stag Bar with a little spot of peanut butter rubbed on.
But we don't spoil him mind.

Re: Tips with nylabone
Marley isnt big on her nylabone, she prefers her bully sticks or bento ball or some rope. Try some peanut butter on it ir cream cheese. she goes through phases with her stag bar, but i think its a cheapy on my mom got, not the real deal so i will be trying one of those in time.

Re: Tips with nylabone
Ive never heard of any problems with nylabones, they aren't advertised as been indestructable, there designed to be worn down. the tiny bits that come off them aren't big enough to cause any problems and pass straight throughCaryll wrote:I'm not keen on Nylabones.
