Hello

Since about 6 months old Chilli has developed an allergy to meat protein.

If she eats beef or lamb she gets ulcers on her feet pads and between the toes and chicken and rabbit gives her ulcers on the face and ears.

She is on a hypoallergenic diet which is fine however I would like to be able to give her treats occasionally. She likes ice as a treat and sometimes I give her some carrots but I would like to be able to give her nice treats.

Does anyone else have this issue and has some ideas/recipes for treats?

Thanks

Peggy

That does sound very complex, I take you are feeding Chilli under the vets recommendations. Are you able to feed her any fish or does this have the same effect on her ?

Logan has developed an allergy lately , I'm not yet what it is, but I think it may be to grass.

A few of our members will be around soon to answer you in detail, as a few have good experience with food allergies. Smile

Darcy also has an hypoallergenic diet, she has white fish & potato with a little salmon oil added, we think she is allergic to grass pollen & perhaps wheat, she doesn't really have any treats. Sad perhaps as kathy says try fish, if she not got an allergy to it.

Suki has allergy problems as well. We went to a dermatologist to get a test to see what she was allergic to. Once we got the results we found a food that worked for her.

For treats we use dehydrated fish or vegetables. Steamed sweet potatos are also good but a little higher in calories. Thankfully for us Suki si very food motivated and not a picky eater.

Home made or raw treats are much healthier for them as well as the store bought variety have too many unhealthy fillers and are high in calories.

If you can feed fish then there are plenty of fish treats you can give. If not, then just google 'vege dog treats' and you'll see loads on offer!

If you come across some really good ones, please let us know! thumbs up

Hi

Thanks everyone.

Yes, she is on a diet of hypoallergenic biscuits that she does really well on.

I have tried giving her dried shark cartilage that I got the at last staffy show and she didn't have a reaction however usually it takes a few goes to get a reaction.

I have bought some fish but haven't tried it yet, will give it a go on the weekend.
