Mucky Eyes.
Every morning Vinnie has really mucky eyes. It is like sleep but a lot of it. Is this normal any advice please.

I take it the whites of his eyes are white & not bloodshot?
If they're ok then they could just be dry - try holding a used, cooled but still damp tea bag over his eyes for a couple of minutes each eye. It often helps to soothe dry eyes.

Daisy are like this and I bathe them with tea on cotton wool or tea bags. The vet says they are fine now and I got them to check twice to be sure.

Re: Mucky Eyes.
Milton gets a fair bit of eye gunk, but I read on here that it's probably just a result of switching to raw food and it's kind of like a detox. If it persists, I'll speak to the vet about it. It's not a huge amount, I have to give them a wipe maybe 2-3 times a day. Does that sound normal?

Yea Logan gets this too, but his eyes aren't bloodshot so I just clean him up.
The tea bags seem to be the thing to do

Darcy does too, but no bloodshot eyes so just wipe away with cotton ball, I'll keep the tea bag thing in mind too.

I have to clean the girls' eyes in the morning, Lola's are the worst. I do it just after we have got up. Nothing worse than a gunky eyed dog looking at you when you are eating your toast!

Re: Mucky Eyes.
My staff doesn't get gunky eyes - just a bit of dried sleepy dust occasionally.
But I had Dobermanns previously, and they both had gunky eyes - it seemed to be that they had lower eyelids that kind of sagged a bit away from the eyeball and that caused a build up of the natural eye secretions etc in the little "pouches". I used to wipe it gently away each day with a damped tissue (the cool tea-bag idea sounds great, I wish I'd thought of that at the time). Or I would drizzle a bit of saline solution (like you get for contact lenses) or Optrex into the eye, and wipe away the spilled debris. The thing was not to let the gunk sit about in the eye and possibly get infected.

Re: Mucky Eyes.
Tank gets gunky eyes in the mornings now n again - especially if he's been extra tired.
It's not like a green gunk - more a clear gunky type - all normal.
I just wipe it away with a damp tissue.

Zeus gets gunky eyes too, most of the time its just dried up gunk but is sometimes wet/slimy (lol). His eyes aren't bloodshot but he does have a burst blood vessel going across one of his eyes which has been there for as long as I can remember.
