Bumble Bee Darcy!
Next door must have some plant or other attracting bumble bees, I had to stop darcy eating one today (1/2 in her mouth 1/2 out) she was disgusted with me that I stopped her eating it. any tips on what to do if she's stung, just incase.

Re: Bumble Bee Darcy!
Good question, I had loads in my garden last summer (before I had Daisy) so could be an issue if she decides to try and catch them!!

Remove the stinger and watch for an allergic reation to include swelling, shaking etc. If there are symptoms than go directly to the vet. I don't know how common allergies to bees are in dogs though.

I am afraid I would be at the vets asap. I have heard if the throat swells you should try and stick a straw down it, just hope to never be in that situation and discourage it as much as you can Xx

It's only a problem if there's an allergic reaction, so if she is stung you'd just keep a close eye on her just in case. Zac used to love catching bees and letting them go, the meanie

Re: Bumble Bee Darcy!
Give you dog some honey to eat if they are stung, just let them lick it off your fingers, this will help to keep their blood sugar up. If they appear to be in distress give your vet a quick call to let them know you are on your way to them and what has happened to the dog. They will then know what to expect and have things ready when you arrive there.
You may want to administer an antihistamine if the dog is not in distress but just in discomfort.

Re: Bumble Bee Darcy!
Frank got stung last summer after chasing a Bee it caught him behind the ear, I went straight to the vets due to Franks allergy issues, and they treated him straight away, however this has put the fear in him ... now he runs away from anything buzzzzzzing.

Oh no there were loads in my garden last year, I'm going to be on edge all the time!! Always have antihistamine in for me but will get some honey too. If she seems interest in them I'll have to hope the leave command she's learnt (learning!) works.
