Unfortunate. Help?
First topic message reminder :
Unfortunately the owners didn't feel confident enough for me to have the puppy. Due to the area et cetera .
Could you guys/girls help me find a promising litter please? Preferably pied/blue/black?

Just so that if she passed away...I'd have a puppy to carry on her legacy . All the other pups I'd probably be picky as Hell where they went or I'd give them to trusted people on here like you just because I'd know you'd treat them well (I know you wouldn't take one because of your dog) . But do you get where I am coming from?
Also, I am going to hold you to that Caryll
Bit of advice my friend , carry on putting links up for litters and we will advise you all day , even if its just for the puppy pics Start talking about irresponsible breeding and you will end up in the middle of a very heated unwanted topic that doesn't get anybody anyhwere
Don't shoot me , I'm only telling you how it is

Re: Unfortunate. Help?
I think I am coming across wrong here. Obviously I'd be picking a suitable mate for her. And I wouldn't let the other puppies go anywhere bad. I've seen first hand in my area what that leads to. That's why I said I'd vet the people and ask if any of you wanted one. Why is that so bad?
I'd be asking you guys/girls how to breed her responsibly. I shall start posting puppy links for you guys/girls

Re: Unfortunate. Help?
They need health tested, also breeding is incredibly complicated that require a certain type of person with experience to do properly and safely.
Doing it just because you want to is the worst thing ever.
I know though tbf matey, you don't really intend to do a lot of these things and are just popping ideas off the top of your head but you must realise what is responsible and what is not.

Re: Unfortunate. Help?
It's irresponsible because the only reason to breed is to better the breed, not to keep hold of a puppy. There are already countless puppies in the world and will continue to be, so it's bad that you'd want to breed just so you can keep a puppy of hers. Does it matter that the puppy would be her puppy? They're all puppies, they're all dogs and they're all loving. That's not even including the MANY things that could go wrong, that you'd have to spend money on health testing her so she doesn't pass on genetic problems to the puppies, and that most people on here wouldn't get a puppy off you because they already have their dogs, so you wouldn't know where they'd end up.

Re: Unfortunate. Help?
My friend has a friend who is a breeder of Bulldog's. He'd surely help me. Plus I'd make sure the mate was KC registered and I'd make sure he/she got a through checking over my you guys/girls first .
I realize that right now I am inexperienced...but in a few years and speaking to the breeder friend of my mate's could help me a little. But I'll leave that for the future. To be honest, once the day comes...I might just back out and be too scared she'd die giving birth (I've heard of it happening)
And Tara...I don't know. Maybe the day will come and I wouldn't want to breed her in fear of problems like that but I can't just strike it out. There is a possibility I would. There is a possibility I wouldn't

Re: Unfortunate. Help?
Rescue centre is the way forward for you my friend. You'll get a great, thankful dog and she'd be spayed so if you ever decided on breeding through your friends, friend's experience she'd be safe from it
We'd all like you to have a lovely pup and be very happy, but promoting the well being of animals is the most important thing.
Good luck though

Re: Unfortunate. Help?
It's still not the right reason to breed, health-tested and KC-registered or not. People breed their dogs to pass on the genes of their dogs that are great examples of the breed (physically and in terms of temperament), not because they want a puppy of the dog they have. But this is all premature, focus on getting a puppy/rescue dog first and focus on training it and working with it before you consider anything else, because this is years into the future.

Don't. even. go. there.
That is not the way to consider breeding, neither is it a good enough reason.

Don't even think about breeding right now. Get some experience with a dog first.
Breeding, done properly, is expensive. You need DNA tests done, you need to pay a stud fee, you have to have at least 8 or 9 good, trusted, forever homes lined up. You need to have a couple of thousand pounds handy just in case the birth goes wrong & she needs an emergency cesarean. You need to be able to take back any pup at any time for whatever reason. You need to have the room and time to look after up to 10 puppies for at least 8 weeks. That's 8 x meals, 4 times a day; 8 x poos, several times a day; 8 lots of wormers every weeks from 2 weeks old; 8 x microchipping before they go to new homes.

He's at least 6 years old, Dave, he was health tested in 2007! But the COI would be too high anyway.

Like I say Caryll , never checked , wonder if it is a very old photo ? as the pic to me looks like a very young dog (or he hasn't had a paper round like the one I've had )

Hi Tillcarr , sorry about my post I looked at the picture and not the age , most breeders would make a recent picture so never checked , there has been a lot of toing and froing with this post so I didnt read all the details on the link and it was just a very quick response.
Might I say one thing though , this boy is a fantastic looking specimen so big pat on the back for you

Re: Unfortunate. Help?
To get back to the original thread. Batman Attacks, you sound very young and not too sure what you want. Why not go for a rescue who will appreciate the home and love you can give it ? Plenty of time in years to come to think about getting into breeding if you still feel the same way after you gained experience.
Please forget your preconceived ideas and listen to the advice you have been given by the experienced people on this forum.
