Angry Moment Empty Angry Moment

Post by Guest Sun Apr 14 2013, 20:48

Had a bit of an angry moment today. Yesterday I fitted a cladded ceiling only to find the end part was a different shade. So today took end bits down went the shop and changed it. Same problem after 3 trips back and forth I got a bit fed up and phoned them. The bloke from the shop said you will just have to keep going back and forth trying different pieces until you find planks that match. I was half way through telling him I'm not spending my weekend drivng back and forth politely Big Grin when he put the phone down on me.
So I went to the shop and asked who was I talking to on the phone. He was dealing with a customer so I went over and interupted them and asked him if he wanted to try stopping me mid sentence face to face. Then threatend to drag him outside I dont want to s the bloke ended up looking terrified. Made me feel like a bully and made me feel like crap. So I bought him dinner to say sorry Laughing
Looking back I can see how this must of looked. So is it just me or do we have other schizophrenics on the site Blushing

Not sure if he ate it. Probably thought I was trying to poison him. I always feel bad afterwards. Can't win either was. Get beat up feel like crrap, beat the guy up then end up feeling like crrap cos I start thinking what happens if he has to go home to his kids looking like that, so before now I've battered them then took them back in the pub cleaned them up and bought them a pint cos I've felt bad.

Thing is when you make plans or are expecting something to be a certain way and it's wrong you're bound to get annoyed, nothing worse than progressing on a job to then be let down with parts, which happens a lot these days because nobody has any pride in their work or concern for their reputation. Not their problem if you have to mess about seems to be the attitude. I would have taken some of the planks that you were happy with back down and gone to the shop with them, and opened every box you had to until you got a match.

I ALWAYS open the boxes of everything I buy infront of a member of staff if it's expensive. Today I bought 16 boxes of tiles from B&Q, and 4 packs of expensive oak flooring for the landing, I called over a member of staff and me and my mate removed every tile and every floorboard from the packaging and inspected them one by one, I found one tile with a chunk out of it, 2 that had marks on them and one with a chip on the edge. This may not seem a lot as the four damaged tiles weren't all from the same box, but regardless of that there's only 6 tiles per box and they cost £15.99 a box, effectively I would have forked out 15.99 for 2 tiles had I not checked, even the employee that was watching was shocked and tried saying it doesn't happen often, I swiftly informed him he was wrong but most people wouldn't notice until they're fitting them, by which time it's too late.

I work in retail as well and no one has ever bought me dinner to say sorry for being rude either but to be fair I wouldn't dare hang up on a customer in the first place because, as you found it only causes problems in the long run and in your defense Mike you had every right to be mad at him for doing that so he kinda deserved your anger Smile

Yeah, I can lose my temper and feel bad after it. Age has taught me to think a bit before speaking - even if it's difficult Blushing

Laughing I did but they seem the same in the shop but when up on the ceiling they were different. I ended up taking the lot down getting 2 new packs and re ding the whole ceiling. Now no problems, just lost a days wage.

I've had the same with cladding, also you sometimes get a pack that happens to have 10 times more knotts in than all the other packs so one end looks like a dalmation.

and here are the same planks up on the ceiling. Might not be able to tell from the pics but the last 2 rows on the right of the pic are different to the rest of the ceiling.

Angry Moment Ceilin11

and here is the pic of the shop assistant with his head through all the planks...... Wink

It's very big in the asian community. Especially in kitchens. TBH I can see why they like it as with cooking currys allot and different spices normal plasterboard ceiling just painted stain very quickly. This is uPVC and can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
But looks wise I'm with you Dave, can't beat a plain painted ceiling

But when it's wiped down with a damp cloth it looks like it's stained with curry Laughing (the craftsmanship in putting it up is A1 though Big Grin )

Laughing I recommend they lie on the floor and mop it above their head. Also tell them to use extra water and mop until they feel themselves floating on the floor in the water thats dripped off >Smile
