Gassy staffy
Hi in need of any welcome advice re my 3yr old boy , he is under treatment from the vet at the moment but we are facing a referral as ideas are running out , for the last week and a half he has been suffering from bloated /gassy tummy , this seems to happen more after food but has occurred late mornings etc , he has had bloods tested for pancreatitus but these came back clear , so we have tried chick/rice diet incase gluten allergy but he is still gassing up ! at the moment he is having buscopan and metacam . there is no diarr or vomiting and has been wormed , but it looks like hes starting a torsion every time he gets gassy , its driving me mad as all I can do is rub his tummy until the gas disperses .... any tips kindly appreciated

Re: Gassy staffy
It may be an allergic reaction, but that's just a shot in the dark. Have you tried dividing his meals into smaller portions to ease the gas build up?

Re: Gassy staffy
I think Janey's idea about the fish is good.
Have you tried getting a second opinion from a different vet? Not that your current one is inadequate - it just might help, as another vet may possibly have seen this before.

Re: Gassy staffy
I had issues when I first rescued Moo. She would have diarrhea over night, every night, and on carpet so not easy to clean and rather grim!
I took to having a baby gate over the bathroom door and just covered the bathroom in newspaper as that was the easiest way of clearing it up when at night.
The vets put her on RC chicken and rice, it helped but didn't sort it. From advice here I put her on JWB white fish, and I never had a problem after that.
I changed her onto Fish4Dogs after as JWB still gave her runny poo (but outside), I rate Fish4Dogs, great kibble and helped us at the time.
She is now back on chicken, nearly 4 years later though so it did take a bit of time. I also buy on line as you get a wider range.
Sorry for the long winded answer but might be worth a thought. Ask me anything if you want my experience
