Foods for gassy dogs
Hi all could really do with some advice regarding dry foods. I have trawled through the SBT forum and the internet but not yet found a re-assuring answer. Here is the situation...
... Since bringing Heston home from the rescue centre he has had quite bad gas and the runs on and off. He is being an absolute terror at the moment (see my terrible teens post) so I have been putting off a vets visit to test for possible allergies, simply because it is possible that he is eating something everyday that could effect his digestion!
He is also a fast eater and I have been helping him to slow down with an anti-gobble bowl/staggered feeding/food pyramid, but he still belches very loud after every meal and is a messy drinker! I have also been giving him bio yoghurt and only grilled chicken for training treats
Anyway there are lots of possible factors that could make him so gassy that he often wakes himself up when he does it . To start with I think I need to swap to a food that is better for dogs with digestion problems. I have tried Arden Grange and he is currently on JWB, does any one have any personal recommendations for food or suppliments that could help with my gas leak!?!?!

my pup used to fart alot and his poo used to smell quite bad, as soon as i start giving him charcoal biscuits, he barely farts (or atleast i cant smell them) and his poo isnt too bad either. its good for fresh breath and digesting his food also.

I can't recommend a dry food as i feed raw, but once Chance was swapped to raw the have stopped almost all together. Perhaps try a different main protein in the dry food such as fish.

Re: Foods for gassy dogs
Sorry for not replying to say thanks for so long. Heston is getting better, as we have just changed foods to 'the natural dog food company' in Salmon....
...However we still do have a stinky days, as he has just discovered the art of hunting down pheasant eggs (there are lots where we live) and eating them
