Re: health and safety gone mad?
Was tempted not to vote on this poll. The corners of the thread are pointy - might hurt my cursor!

WTF?!!
IT'S A FLAPJACK!! Tell the kids to stop throwing food around for pity's sake.

Re: health and safety gone mad?
statistically you are 33% more likely to be hit by the corner of a flapjack if it is square rather then round

Re: health and safety gone mad?
In general health and safety has gone mad imo.
But....seriously...what is going on? How is a triangle any more dangerous than a square.
Also, being more strict on food fights rather than the shape and texture of food might be a better idea. Or they'll all end up with cold soup everyday!

Re: health and safety gone mad?
Me and mum's conversation just now:
"Might as well ban pencils in that case. They're more dangerous!"
"And those triangular rubbers! And rulers! Gasp!"
"And pens! And compasses!"
"They have a pencil and a sharp bit!"
"And they're in the shape of a TRIANGLE! "
"They'll need to close the whole school down! "

Re: health and safety gone mad?
we were just discussing yellow vests in the event of a roadside incident ?? what about the risk assessment to get out of your car to go in the boot and get out your vest

Re: health and safety gone mad?
I honestly thought this was all a prank, when I was at school, many, many years ago, I did wood work and metal work and used hammers, saws and chisels etc. before I was age 13, where the hell is common sense now.

Re: health and safety gone mad?
Whatever will these loons come up with next. They'll be demanding circular flapjacks next (no nasty corners!)

Some sites I have worked on you get kicked off if you are not wearing hard hat, high viz jacket, gloves, steel toe cap boot, ear plugs & safety gigs at all times. Try working in that, can't move I was in the the middle of a farmhouse field building a fence and they made me wear all that. I asked them what was gonna fall on my head in the middle of a field.
Hope North Korea don't kick off if them lot are organising safety during world war 3

Re: health and safety gone mad?
In my school people in the textiles class would throw sewing needles at each other. A flapjack? Wimps

I voted no as an active Health and Safety related person in the company
The correct way to do this would be to assess the risk factor involved in hurting someone with a triangular flapjack as opposed to a square one . I have spent months of research on this one and my findings are surprising
The obvious thought would be that square or 4 pointed flapjacks as they are known in the back street martial arts circles would be more dangerous as there are 4 points as opposed to 3 so based around probabilities on a Triangular or 3 pointed fighting flapjack there would be a 33% increase in an opponent being hurt by the 4PFJ , however extensive testing shows that unless they are manufactured with an even mix of ingredient the 4PFJ is much more unstable in flight then the Triangular or 3PFJ so the risk is significantly reduced .
The obvious alternative on the grounds of safety was deemed to be the round or RFJ , however after several board meetings of the Flap Jack Manufacturing Committee it was decided that the time spent and additional labour costs involved in reworking the left overs of the RFJ into further RFJ's then the cost far outweighed the risks so the most efficient FJ is now 100% deemed to be the 4PFJ.
Just thought you would all like to know the results of my findings:-B
