Stag Bars
Has anyone used a stag bar for their dog and are they safe to be left alone with the dog or do bits come off
Thanks

Re: Stag Bars
They are safe and are quite tough.
Logan doesn't play with it too long but it is very good for them

Re: Stag Bars
I got XL because he would get more use out of it, but large would be fine. They are irregular shapes so just pick one that looks like it would be easy for your dog to hold etc.

Re: Stag Bars
I'd say at least large, but if you can get hold of an extra large one, that would be better.

Re: Stag Bars
We would usually get the medium or large size for Rocky who loves his stag bar, Pets at Home now stock them and Jolleys do too.

Re: Stag Bars
We get jumbo ones in our house and they're pefectly safe to be left with. You just need to bin them when they get small enough to be a choking hazard

Re: Stag Bars
I get the biggest ones I can find just so they last longer. They're brilliant, perfectly safe and keeps them occupied and gives them something to chew on other than things they're not meant to.

Re: Stag Bars
What did you do to help her get over it. Ive just left it alone and paid no attention to her barking or going mental with it - Is this right

Re: Stag Bars
That's right, don't make a fuss of her, she'll get over it when she realises it's not evil or anything

Re: Stag Bars

Some members suggest putting a bit of peanutbutter on the ends to get them interested.

Re: Stag Bars
Wouldnt be without them, I get large and extra large, and just throw them away when they become small.

Re: Stag Bars
That's great. As long as it's big enough that it couldn't become a choking hazard it will be safe

Re: Stag Bars
No but she was coughing a little bit but think that is coz little bits come off dont they. What is it that is inside the bar as looks like marrow or something

Re: Stag Bars
Yea it's just dry marrow. Constant chewing makes them extra thirsty so that may have been the reason too.

Re: Stag Bars
Yerh I will monitor her with it over the weekend and prob start leaving her with it next week - I am just so glad that she has warmed to it and stopped barking. She has a bowl of water left down for her but I am tempted to get her a massive bowl and fill it to the top.

Re: Stag Bars
That's weird, I got one from my local one yesterday. Maybe it's just certain stores.
If your dog becomes disinterested in it, soak it in hot water for a few minutes, let it cool down a bit then try again. Works wonders with Milton
