Stag Bar Empty Stag Bar

Post by brutusindubai Tue Apr 02 2013, 17:12

We bought Brutus a stag bar about a month ago. The first day or so he was a little apprehensive, but now he won't leave it alone. He is chewing it after he has his breakfast and dinner, chews it all day and I wouldn't be surprised if he takes it to bed with him. Does anyone else's dog do this? It's not bad that he chews it as much as he does is it?

Cheers

No, there's nothing in it that can harm him.

Dempsey goes through spells of chewing his - sometimes it's fanatical, other times he won't touch it for days!

Rocky loves a good chew of his stag bar usually just before he goes to bed, they are great for cleaning their teeth.

Did you try soaking the Stag Bar in cold water overnight? Or smearing something tasty over it?

I rarely give Dempsey other chews, and never give him rawhide! The only time he had a rawhide chew he tore a large piece off & started to choke on it - I stuck my fingers down his throat to get it out (I did get it) and got my finger bitten to the bone for my troubles; he was only about 4 months old at the time!

Rawhide, I found out afterwards, swells in a dog's stomach and has been known to cause a potentially fatal blockage.

Moo hated hers also, and still doesn't like the normal ones. She got one of these for christmas www.antlerdogchews.co.uk and they are slightly more expensive and she loves it, couldn't believe the difference, its nearly all gone now but has lasted!
