Is my dog underweight?
Hi there, My dog Vinnie is 5 months old and seems relatively happy spending his days bouncing around and climbing up on the furniture etc. He does seem a little lightweight for a Staffy though and I'm worried he might not be getting enough food. He looks a bit like a Boxer with long legs and a slender rear end. When we bought him we saw both parents and they were both big well muscled dogs. I know he is only 5 months old and I'm probably worrying unneccessarily but not sure of exactly how he should be looking at this age. I feed him twice a day and he gets the usual treats for going out to toilet etc. He seems pretty contented all round and doesn't appear overly hungry between feeds. I'd post a pic of him but it's hard to get him to stay in one place long enough to take one.

Re: Is my dog underweight?
At tha age they are always very thin/leggy because they don't start filling out until after 1 year. Logan is 15 months and only filling out now.
Do you have a picture of him that we could see?

At that age they are very leggy/gangly, they don't tend to look like typical Staffs yet because they don't fill out until around a year old, so don't worry about it. If you can't overly-see his ribs or his spine, he's not underweight

I used to think the same with Zeus, at times he looked underweight, at times he looked really leggy, his physique used to change alot.
Its only now that hes 13/14 months old that hes starting to fill out and look more and more like a staffy.
5 months is very young, you're in for a lot of shape changes yet! Just enjoy it while you can.
