What a joke, some people need educating, I can't believe another dog owner would think the same about the staffy. Fellow dog owners aren't normally the problem, its mainly the general public.

The threats seem very extreme and OTT, again boiling down to misrepresentation of the breed in general.

However, I'm sorry if it offends, but I can't imagine anyone getting that level of abuse/threats for absolutely nothing. She may be holding back from telling all of the story.

I never read the comments, too many trolls about who will post any old garbage just wind people up. they have no voice in the real world so try and make out they know what they are talking about on the internet. Keyboard warriors that hide in there darkend bedrooms with no real life outside.

As for the main story, well she might have hammed it up a little but its something I have feared more likely happening than the breed being banned. Public Hostality towards the breed and owners because of all the myths and hype being pushed around.

i just read the article and the comments below too, a lot of education is still needed out there.

I cannot believe some of the stuff I read in that comments section, and the article itself - completely disgusting. If someone did that in the street to a Labrador Retriever or a Newfoundland they'd be in court answering to a magistrate, and the papers would have their heads, but because it's a staffy, it's suddenly alright for people to abuse other people's dogs!

I really take offence to that, because the breed really are lovely, and my puppy's a dead ringer for Ms.Dean's black dog - regardless of whether or not we're not hearing the whole story, there's no excuse for that kind of nonsense. If you don't like staffordshire bull terriers for any reason, don't have one - don't try forcing your world view on others!

Again because of our super media the Stafford is hated.

When I go out for walks I think a lot about what I should say to people if they are rude or annoying for no reason about my dog.

I think taking the aggro out of a situation is the most important first step.

But I do want a long list of comebacks at the ready next time somebody is a pain.

I know a woman who is on the board of whatever of the English Bull Terrier federation - or whatever it's called. People cross the street to avoid her dog, mothers pick up their kids, other people tell her she should be ashamed of herself for having such a dangerous breed.

But she's no fool. She's very posh and stamps about in her wellington boots and if anyone ever says anything rude she looks at them very coolly and says: "I think you should get an education," and walks off with her nose in the air. It seems to work.

Absolutely disgusting Agree with everyone else about people not being educated correctly about the breed. I wish there was something at school that spoke about all types of animals and what not. Whenever I've had interaction with people involving Ebony, it's mainly the younger kids that want to approach her when their with their parents and usually they're surprised at how gentle she is. I've never really said anything clever back to anyone as I feel that I'd be just as bad as them arguing or spouting abuse back at them. They look like such lovely dogs in the video though The white one has such a cute smile when it stands on the chair
