Dropping stuff on laps
Max has developed this habit of dropping his chews, balls etc on your lap for no apparent reason. He gives me a deep and meaningful look as he sits and waits for me patiently to do something with it.
A ball is no problem, I understand that and we'll play fetch until he's fed up, but with his chews or bones, I have no clue. I throw them for him but he just ignores that game, I've pretended to eat them (yep, gross) and he just watches me but doesn't try to get it back, I've tried hiding it but still no response. In fact, he'll just walk away and fetch me another ...!
What am I supposed to do or is it just an affection thing?

Do what you want with it, he's just sharing with you it's an affectionate thing but also a trusting thing, because he trusts you with his possessions and feels happy sharing them with you or bringing you gifts.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping it was an affection thing rather than a "doing" thing!! I always thank him but after that I was at a loss!
He's a funny little thing though, he's affectionate but does different things with different members of the family. Like with my husband, he'll snuggle right in to him, but won't with me, but he'll sit on my lap for hours and will go to sleep on the sofa with me and only me.
He'll drop his ball in my lap to play fetch but won't let it go with my husband as he'd rather play "pull". Weird....

My pooch does different things with different people as well. He will leave his ball for me but plays tug of war with the OH. They're funny little things

Zeus does the exact same with me, I don't really have a problem with it until all his drool from the toys gets onto my clothes!

Alfie does this too. He will bring his stag bar on my lap, have a chee and just leave it there for me to deal with

Thanks all, glad to know that Max isn't the only one!! There's nothing like a half chewed, drool covered chew dropped in your lap ....
