Hi I was just wondering at what age do puppy's enter the teenager phase.....our pup blue is now 7 months and he has started to test the boundaries again, trying to but not always succeeding to avoid doing as he is told or if he does its very slowly.... Surprised

and how long does this last please....and any hints and tips.....cheers

Any time around now tbh. It can last for a few months. It's the time when you have to be most consistent with your rules/training and he will do whatever he can to get under your skin at times.

I saw a big change (for the good) in Logan when he hit about 13 months. Smile

thanks its really interesting that he tries to test the boundaries just as we got it all sorted...even the walks he wants to revert back to 'oh i will decide on which way to go' but will keep to the rules.....consistently.

Sounds abot like the right time. Just be sure to go back to basics and be patient

As said, go back to basics and stick to them! Never change your expectations. I would even go further during this time and keep him off the sofa and make him wait to eat his dinner after you, all things that will give him respect for you later on.

Be consistent! That's the main thing.

Exactly as Mat says, my Ralph is just coming up to 13 months now, and we're just starting to see an improvement with him. All the hard work is starting to pay off!

Sounds like now. Loki hit it as soon as he was six months old and we're still battling with it now Laughing just keep positive and know that it's just a phase and it WILL get better, and continue with the training you were already doing.

we're at that stage, she's 10 months, recall kind of out the window if she smells/spots something more interesting. We're going back to basics and increasing training, more tricks and the kind. Hopefully it will work, good luck, your dog is gorgeous xx

As everyone else has said but one thing to add, enjoy it! its a mad mad stage that gets you pulling at your hair sometimes but its also a stage where they do some of the nuttiest things. It passes so quick, my boy is already starting to act more mature and level headed while laska is well and truely still in the "bottle of cheap cider in the park" teenage stage Laughing
