We have a problem getting Loki in the car, but it's the opposite problem, he tries to dive in before we're ready . Have you tried a Kong filled with delicious things? That way he'll associate the car with something great.

Rocky doesn't mind the car, he does make a lot of noise while he is in there, but he likes being in there.

Re: bruno and the car
lots and lots of positives. maybe sit in the car first, with bruno on his lead, and encourage him to get in beside you. sit there for a few minutes as if its normal, then go back inside. reapeat a few times over a week or so, then build up to sitting in with his belt on, then onto a short drive round the block, and build gradually. i had to start from scratch after me and Lola were hit last May, she's still nowhere near how she used to be in the car, but she now quite happily gets in without a fuss, whereas she used to run a and hide in the house if i picked my keys up.

Re: bruno and the car
Shéara is wonderful when hes sat on my knee as a passenger, I remember the first time he puked all over the oh whilst he was driving haha! He will whine if he has his harness on in the car as he associates it with walkies, otherwise hes perfect

Re: bruno and the car
Logan adores the car. More so than anything tbh.
But bringing a high valued toy or some nice treats will help

Re: bruno and the car
Suki doesn't like the car either. She is great on the way home from the park but very active and vocal on the way there. We used to have to put her inside but now we just toss in a treat and she jumps right in

Re: bruno and the car
thank you for the advice will follow all of it, got to give it all a go, i know why bruno don't like cars, its because thats all he saw while a pup till i came along and took him away, he was chained up in a car garage 24-7, so all he saw was cars, i think he is sick of the sight of them, got to try and make it a postive thing for him, would love to take him to the sea side in the summer

Re: bruno and the car
some dogs hate it as it upsets there sence of balance, especially pups. if he encounterd this as a pup it may be just an association experiance that you have to deal with. if it was an experiance in a fear period it could well be your problem and reasurance and treats will help as will getting the dog in the car and not driving it, get him used to being in there without the sensation of movement. the more he trusts his surroundings the better it will get

Re: bruno and the car
If you're able to, it'd help to open all the car doors with him off-lead in the same area, put a couple of treats on the seat and then just leave him alone. It may take time, but eventually he'll go in and get them. Again, don't say anything or move towards him because he'll think you're going to shut him in and it'll make him anxious, just let him get used to it in his own time. The worst thing you can do is try to hurry him in and shut the door so he feels trapped. It's something you've got to let him do at his own pace.
