Re: :'( girl possibly killed by dogs
My heart goes out to family after such a tragic accident, but the ignarance of some people has already strarted. I was walking Coco with my 3 year old (she was off the lead but is well trained) at which i was yelled at from a lady for letting that type of dog off in a park and with a child i was just so irrisponcible its just unbelievable how some people can be.....When are people going to realise its almost never the breed/dog but the owner/environment they are from

Re: :'( girl possibly killed by dogs
I was horrified by the Jeremy vine call in on radio 2. I was so angry and would have called if I wasn't driving. He was so partisan about the whole issue, even saying on twitter he wouldn't let a stafford near his children. NO mention in his show about the woman's backyard breeding or the circumstances that led to the tragedy, such as a lack of exercise and mental stimulation, not to mention how irresponsible it is to keep 5 bull breeds in a smallish house without sufficient exercise!

i think they said wrong about the labrador could happened with every dog i think bigger size poor little girl...very tragic newsTony n Jane wrote:First of all my thoughts are with the family of the girl, such a terrible thing to happen.
Just watched a discussion on Sky News where one of the presenters insisted that 'this would never happen with a Labrador, its always a certain type of breed that does this'
Thanks to the female presenter who also insisted that any dog could do this and its down to owners and training.
No one knows what really happened but i agree that our breed will take another beating over the coming weeks.
Again my sympathy goes out to the victims family

well I've read lots on this and next to no story is the same, even down to the poor girl. some say lovable rougue others say angel so we are presented with alot of half truths yet again.
without the coroners report we will know nothing but the speculation of the press.
I'll take the humanly "pumping 5 shots" into a dog story.... I know farmers that would punch you in the face and ban you from there land forever for killing vermin with so many shots, if a policeman cant take a clean shot on a dog he shouldnt be in the job. yet it gets a frenzy up, oh wow 5 shots really? what nasty dogs they are.... no its a policeman which shouldnt own a gun or a made up story...i suspect a made up story.
sad that poor lass has passed but until I know all the facts i wont make a judgment on the dogs or owner

Re: :'( girl possibly killed by dogs
It took a few days but this story has today landed in Australia I was hoping it never reached here, although I know that was wishful thinking.. Again all the do gooders are back on the BSL band wagon calling for Staffs to be listed and restricted
So sad for the girl & her family and friends but why should this incident have such a massive ripple effect for all Staffys before it is even confirmed they are Staffys.

Only last nights walk, there was 5 kids walking their dog, Pixee was on lead, as we were on the footpath then, I moved over to let them pass, the look of horror on their faces when they saw what dog I got, I just ignored them, fussed Pixee and walked on. Thats down to the damn news!!!!!!!! >

When I took Caley out last night I also got a few more looks than normal, held my head up high and proudly carried on - my little girl even walked nicely for once...it makes me want to scream

Re: :'( girl possibly killed by dogs
I was tuned into Jeremy Vine yesterday, I would have loved to have been part of the convo, he was making up the news and facts as he was going along. Nothing was definite about what took place in the house with the dogs and the lass involved. Yet he continually mentioned Staffies, as the demon dog.. Staffies are actually recommended by the Kennel club as the best breed for a young family pet.. go figure. We that have the breed know better then anyone just surmising, what the breed can offer. I'm all for the news etc but really reporters should get their facts right before just opening their mouths and letting crap spill out for the nation to hear. He obviously has a hang up about the breed and as probably altered the views of many that tune into the show.. Very bad reporting Mr Vine..

Re: :'( girl possibly killed by dogs
I've just seen the pics on the Daily Mail and there is absolutely no Staff in any of those dogs. Once again, just ignorant people jumping on the 'Staff hater' wagon!
This could have been any dog and it is just so very sad that a young girl has lost her life because someone didn't train or treat their dogs properly.

Re: :'( girl possibly killed by dogs
from piecing the reports together so far I have seen that the dogs Neo a mastiff and Buddy an American Bulldog were the main 'attackers' yet in one article despite the pics being attached they were both labelled as being staffys
