Hiya again, Thank you all for your help so far. Thats wir two bundles of joy home already & they are just the most loving lil angels xx

Now that they've arrived weve found the full extent of the diet they were givin before, Bakers 6-12 week puppy food (even tho they only turned 6 weeks) & cows milk in their readybrek twice a day Sad we have changed to goats milk in the porridge but because its a change for them im now unsure of when to start intergrating the new feed, any ideas? dont want to upset their insides, Poor lil souls have gone through alot already with the early move, even tho they seem tobe coping really well xx

Congrats on getting the two pups home, you've a lot of fun ahead Smile

Firstly, Bakers really isn't a good food sadly. It's full of fillers and rubbish and has ingredients known to cause hyperactivity. So I'd think about changing that first. When you are changing over foods though do it over the space of 7 days to avoid any upset tummys.

I feed James Wellbeloved. It's well priced and always on specials at Pets at Home. It's hypoallergenic, grain free in certain flavours and my dog Logan has thrived on it. There are a lot of good brands out there and a lot more expensive brands but I personally don't believe in spending too much when you don't have to.

Hi congrats in the little ones Smile

I would have to agree with matt, you need to start weening if the bakers. I use wainwrights and i would say this is a good middle of the market food.

As they so young i couldn't recommend if keeping them on the porridge would be good or bad for them. Sorry i ca not advice more but someone who can will bw along soon Smile

Hi my staffy pup and shih tzu are on raw food diets and it is amazing but quiet expensive. Its a complete food is great for their health and it has no added nasties and sorry to say this but because the can digest all of the raw diet their poos are tiny which is great. Archie my shih tzu used to have very bad skin but since he has been on this diet he doesn't scratch anymore. Their teeth have no tartar on and their coats are shiny. They get Mackrell once a week to give them the essential oils they need. I do have to say they love it and also love the raw carrots they get to.

I think if you talk to the right people then raw is one of the cheapest diets aavilable if you are comparing against a decent kibble (not Bakers , Wagg etc) but not for everyone ( I can't feed it think I would struggle and the OH wouldn't enteraing the idea

I completely agree with those above in saying that Bakers is a crap food tbh. Get them onto a decent food as soon as you can by gradually changing it over the course of a week, swapping some new food for old until you only have the new food.

Try something from the list below:

My 2 SBT's are raw fed but my other dog is on wet and kibble as raw just isn't suited to her! She gets Wainwrights wet and Eden kibble. Eden is one of the best foods out there IMO and is 5 star rated on whichdogfood.co.uk.

I used to give porridge to Logan as a young pup because he was a picky eater and seemed to enjoy it. I don't know if it's strictly necessary though.

Once weaned onto solid foods they don't need milk/porridge. Solids and water is enough. Pups will sometimes continue to drink from mum up till 8weeks when they leave but it's not necessary once weaned!

i think you'll find that milk and dairy are no no's for dogs dont think dogs can digest the lactose in milk resulting in the squirts
