Can I have some opinions on my dog's breed mix please
Hi. Rocky is nearly 2 and his health card says he is SBT, but I don't think he is 100% staff because he is tall (18" at shoulder) and heavy (21kg) Would you mind taking a look at these pictures and giving your opinion on what breed you think he may have in him? Thank you

He's mostly Stafford IMO too. He is only slightely bigger than Logan and he is full Stafford, they all come in all different shapes and sizes

He is a gorgeous dog, nothing else but Staffy is grabbing me either. It's hard to tell sometimes though as they all do differ in size and shape. Do you have him insured ? What does this paperwork say ?

Re: Can I have some opinions on my dog's breed mix please
Thanks for your replies. I am about to get insurance for both my dogs (other one is a staff cross) and was wondering what to put for his breed. Looks like I won't get away with the cheaper option then

Re: Can I have some opinions on my dog's breed mix please
He was being privately fostered locally, apparently previous owner had 3 dogs and was about to drop, and something had to give. You never know how true these stories are, but he had obviously been well cared for and has turned out to be a wonderful dog

If you dont have paperwork from a breeder the chances are that he is a cross breed.

Re: Can I have some opinions on my dog's breed mix please
Looks very stafford-ish, but maybe not totally pure. Maybe a labrador somewhere in the background?
I'd list him as a stafford cross as long as your vets also list him as the same. If you ever make a claim & the vets put that he's a stafford when you've said he's a cross, it'll invalidate the policy.

Don't fully agree with that Kathy. If someone breeds for "bit of extra money", they're not goin to start spending on registration etc. I've seen this before with some people. Just because a dog doesn't have papers doesn't mean to say they aren't pure breed.

Yep, the vet's is the next opinion I am going to ask, for this reason.Caryll wrote:I'd list him as a stafford cross as long as your vets also list him as the same. If you ever make a claim & the vets put that he's a stafford when you've said he's a cross, it'll invalidate the policy.

I'd just like to add to this that nobody should breed a litter for a "bit of extra money"!

I know, but the way you said it made it sound as though it was acceptable.
