dog shampoo for bathtime
Jake fell into a friends garden pond last night & emerged covered in algea, at least he has a crash course of swimming lessons. He is obviously now slightly smelly so it looks like time for his 1st bath. What dog shampoo is recommended, or is a bath of warm water without soap the best option. He is 16 weeks old if that has any bearing on it.
Thanks for any help given.

Re: dog shampoo for bathtime
I use one I got from my vets, it's locally made and seems good.
If it would work just rinse him out under the shower. I bathed Logan a few weeks back when I probably shouldn't have and it made his skin quite dry.
I shower him once a month or so, but try to only use the shampoo when it's totally needed.

I use Paul Mitchell Oatmeal Shampoo. My 2 rarely get showered though, maybe twice a year, more if they've rolled in something

That's the one I have

A good rinse under the shower should suffice, if however he is still quite smelly then use a good quality dog shampoo.

Re: dog shampoo for bathtime
Ok thanks for all the replies, I will give it a while longer as the smell seems to be wearing off now, if needed I will just shower him in water.
I will also look out for the shampoos that have been mentioned ready for when he rolls in something nasty.

I've been using Pets At Home's own make, but everytime I use it, it seems to make Zeus's skin really dry and flaky, so I wouldn't recommend it.
I'd be moving onto something like Pet Heads once it's finished.
I normally bath Zeus every 2/3 months, depending on how bad he smells!

I use that one as well. It looks expensive, but you don't need to use much & the bottle lasts for ages. I've only just got through a bottle & Dempsey's 4 years old next month!

We got a puppy one from pets at home, regret it though. Made her skin so dry and flaky. Won't be doin it unless absolutely necessary.

Yeah I got it after seeing you mention it a few times! I got it when Bailey was about 3 months, so had it about 15 months and I'd say its about 3/4 full and I've washed the 3 dogs a couple of times each

I won't use Bob Martins anything. I find it expensive and mainly ineffectual.
